New Car (FALC)

Post by GregR » Tue Feb 26, 2013 8:46 am

After three years of family estate ownership I was getting properly fed up with my lot. Placating the Mrs with some renovations meant I could get something interesting again :D

So, I needed something with four doors and four seats that I could track - Scooby or Evo were the only options. New WRX STIs were meant to be dynamically inferior to the old (and AF Noble were useless at getting me a test drive) and the Exo X did nothing for me. I started looking at Litchfield converted cars and thanks to some help from John Stewart and Scott (gambler) I steered away from them too. Ian Litchfield's lot were no help either, never responding to emails for info or even agreeing to undertake inspections for a fee!

So, here's what I went for. I've always liked them and they're probably one of the best factory Imprezas made - an RB320. This one came with 17k miles on the clock and a couple of subtle mods (Hayward & Scott centre section, Baily DV12 dump valve). Never seen a salty road apparently - madness! Previous owner was a clean freak and one year drove it a mere 294 miles between services.

Congrats, what a minter!

Mine's a bit more of a workhorse than that, but it's a keeper. Best car I've ever owned I reckon. Feckin' love it.

Let the haters hate. It's a sensible, reliable, 4-door with a decent boot, good seats, isofix points etc which will cover ground faster than just about anything in the real world when it has to. What's not to like...??

...apart from that ghey spoiler! ;)

Nice car :thumbsup
Not my garage, those are the seller's pics.

Under the bonnet is the noisy broomy thing. I won't be going near it (except to check oil levels...) after my past tinkering experience!
