Shouldn't be that bad. Takes a bit of manipulation to get it past the radiator shroud but beyond that it's straight forward.

You are clearly a better man than me - or your S1 was build with a wide-boy front bay... I always spent at least half an hour yanking at the loom, the rad shroud and hauling at that frigging battery, swearing that my knees didn't bend the other way! Hellish job that I don't miss...
I've never struggled with it? Dropping a new one in mine, again, tomorrow.
There are much worse jobs on the car.

Guess there's variability in how fat the loom is and how much you can get it out the way. Mine was a nightmare to get past - proper handle-snapping, sweary nightmare.

Mine too, even managed to rip the wiper motor cover off

one of my winter jobs is to mount a set of charging posts / connector in the boot so I can avoid having to take the bloody thing out.

Last time I changed the battery, I removed the radiator cowl and I think the wiper cover and even at that the loom was a pig to get past.

Took me 13 minutes including dropping the 13mm spanner inside the battery area, retrieving another, cleaning it out and giving it all another dousing of acf50. No skint knuckles, nothing else removed.

If you weren't in Aberdeen, I would. I hear Alan Gourley's good with other people's cars though.
