Exige S2 Headlamp Bulbs

The light output on the standard S2 headlamp bulbs is pretty poor

HID kits are out because of the lack of washer/levelling, light output is great but not popular with oncoming motorists

Anyone had any success with other retro fit bulbs, without melting the wiring/headlamp units?

Not sure about S2, but I have uprated bulbs from halfrauds that work well. Not quite as bright at rally bulbs (which are illegal) but a big improvement over the standard bulbs. Passed MOT with them in... although I'm not sure if MOT actually checks brightness - just if the work & alignment.

Charlie. I have HID's on my Exige and it just passed its first MOT earlier this month. The HID issue seems to be down to interpretation of the new MOT laws. If HIDs are fitted and they have levelling / washers fitted these must be working properly. If there is no levelling / washers then the lights just need to be correctly adjusted like any other lights di for the MOT. There is a further provision in there to do with the brilliance of the lights themselves but from discussing with the garage where i got the Exige tested, as far as they were concerned so long as the lights are correctly adjusted because there were no washers / levelling at the time of manufacture they were not now required.

If you go online and research the issue remember that most of what you will read is opinion and the qualification of those with an opinion is not necessarily qualified, if you know what I mean!!
