Shkyfall promo, thinly disguised as a Top Gear Special. They'll be reaching for a Heineken in a minute.

It was fascinated to hear how Lotus tempted pinewood to use the Esprit, and who was the stunt driver!
Re: Top Gear Jamesh Bond Shpeshul
Almost didn't bother when I saw it was the weakest of the 3 presenters flying solo. Decided to watch it as there was nothing else on and was bored within 10 minutes.
On the watch front, he did mix it up with a Brietling.

Was a nice piece of entertainment and I enjoyed it. Yep, was the worst of the presenters, but he didn't annoy overly.
Have heard some griping about the amount of promo surrounding the Bond launch - does everyone have so short a memory they don't remember the last 10 Bond launches? It was ever thus. It's the last remaining blockbuster in the British Movie industry and the only way it gets paid for is to promote and product place the hell out of it - but it's been the very same story since the mid-70s. Nothing has changed. You get a few months of media blanketing, then it goes away and if we're lucky, we're left with another eminently watchable film in the series to go back and enjoy for years. It's not art, it's entertainment... At least the placement isn't as jarring as during the Brosnan days with the fecking BMWs...

If the the Top Gear presenters are spreading themselves out... we need James May to do a Bond Car Manlab Special

Re: Top Gear Jamesh Bond Shpeshul
I can't be arsed with TG any more and I am not big Bond fan. I don't dislike the franchise but can take or leave it. I really enjoyed this speshial. Hammond was fine and the stuff with the transit I found more interesting than amusing. I didn't see it as a big plug for Skyfall at all. It did have me looking at AMs on PH though.
As with the Senna thing, TG has again proven that when it is not catering for the lowest common denominator it can produce the goods - just a shame that the rest of the year it resorts to kids TV antics.

I was disappointed when I realised it would be a Hammond-only affair, being the only one of the three for whom I have a mild dislike...
...but actually it was well worth the watch - some interesting anecdotes, particularly the Lotus stuff, and the little 'yota 2000GT I thought was a cracker
