First ever - and previous time caught was about 20yrs ago by bike cops

I'm away from home just now, my darling wife called last night to give me a bollocking "you effing idiot" etc

She says it has no details of fine or number of points, just a form for me to confirm who was driving (not her unfortunately) on that date at that time at that location.
Ironically I was en route to kick tyres on an Elise

So what happens next? I fill in form and find out the cost?

You'll be 3 points and £60 for 50 in a 40. Once you tell them who was driving you'll get a conditional offer for the fixed penalty in the post, pay it and send your license in for endorsement and that will be the end of it.
Did the NIP arrive with 14 days of the alleged offence? If not, or you're in the mood to fight it anyway there's lots more information at

Just so I can go NANANANANANaaaaa.... (and rush off to touch wood)

I was let off with a warning last Thursday for doing 31 in a 20 zone going through the village of Burrelton on the way to Perth Airfield. Was a really nice chat, no good cop / bad cop thing, just a reminder that the village was a 20 zone at all times and to pay more attention. Got the full breathalyser test and and vehicle check then waved on. Lucky boy

One arrived for me on Friday. 52 in a 40. Didnt take long to work out seeing as I was at a poker night and wife had decided to take kids to cinema in my car. Thought she had got away with it!

But as you say, no mention of fine, points etc. Filled up her name and sent it off yesterday.

Two scenarios. if you are pulled up by a Patrol car it will be explained what the penalty is and the ticket will be written out, ie:- you will know that you have been copped.
If it is a Gatso or Scam Van(spit), the NIP will be sent to the registered owner who then accepts driving the vehicle, or if not, states who was.

Thanks for the clarification

Unfortunately the NiP arrived 8 days after, and not gonna contest it as I was in a rush that day, so will take it on the chin, like a man

I got caught here, was travelling in this direction (east), and the van or what ever caught me was up Roodyards Road, which is a scabby unused lane

Nicely hidden behind the wall/Dark Knight billboard

Oh, and all the wood touching may end in another fine
