Benny's was completely different Tut - he was being loud mouthed and cocky and probably deserved the beating those toddlers gave him.

I had a cracked skull when I was 17, looked nasty apparently on scans etc with perforated ear drum and all sorts of horror stories about not being able to fly again due to pressure imbalances. Turned out the eardrum was not perf'd but just soaked in my own blood and I'm fine. Except for my lack of sense of <slam> equilibrium.

Tut, sorry to hear of the incident, I hope the boys make a speedy recovery.

I've heard of a few similar incidents and find it hard to comprehend why people behave like that. The police do seem to put in a considerable effort to get the criminals, hopefully they will do so in this case.

Pretty bang on with the details except for one or two things.

We were walking back to the hotel. Gav and Frankie at the back, me about 10/15 metres behind, Luke about 20 metres or more behind me.

A group of twelve stepped out and started on the front two who put their heads down and kept walking. I then got to them and they started on me and pushed me as I walked through, I just kept my head down also and kept walking, albeit a bit quicker. This didn't work, they ran behind me and punched me in the back of the head, once down 6 or 7 of them started stomping on my skull. Luke ran ahead and the other two ran back to pull me away, they took a few hits but managed to get me to the side though my condition was already pretty bad.

Verdict is that my elbows are badly beaten, bruised and cut. I have fractured my right hand. My jaw is fractured. My skull is fractured down the right side and at the back quite severely. My brain is bruised at the front, right side and they said was bleeding though I didn't know that could happen. I had brain fluid leaking out my skull through the damages in my ear which was reducing the volume in my skull leading to extreme headaches. Ear is perforated and damaged in some way so needs to be investigated. My brain has a blood clot which will take time to heal. Seems to be the only thing that can kill me so for weeks my activity must remain extremely low. Apparently if that blood clot moves then I can quite easily die. Then there is just the bruising to my head, face, lumps and bumps everywhere and the feeling of knowing that even though I did not react, we had a great night and made new friends etc and didn't rise to anything, that I still couldn't avoid this situation. I hope these people get what they deserve by the law, or one day start on the wrong crowd and get their just desert. I'm quite lucky not to be dead. I just don't understand the need to fight for the sake of it after a night out. Truly pathetic.

Thanks for all the wishes, it is very much appreciated.

I am still astounded that this could happen to you twice. You must hang about some right dodgy night clubs/areas!
Hope you get well soon Ian.

Ian.
Im very sure you can read what on my mind, with thoughts about these thugs. It sickens me to think that there are people out there who do this to others without a thought.
I really hope they get caught, and jailed. :blackeye

Wishing you a speedy recovery, and a beer will be awaiting you at Fort William in June.
:thumbsup :thumbsup

Absolute sumbags. Unreal. I hope you make a full recovery.

As for the people that done it, they should be executed. No need for them IMO!
