panzer wagon vibration (NLC)

Post by BiggestNizzy » Sun Feb 05, 2012 7:00 pm

I have started to get an intermittent vibration at the back of the beemer, it only happens on motorway and my initial thinking is the back brakes.

When it's happening and I jab on the brake I can feel it through the pedal and it reduces it for a little while but it comes back.

After a while it goes away.

Any ideas ?

Wheel nuts tight?

Look over the discs look for any patches that look different. Had this on the porker it's what is traditionally called warped disc but it's just a bit of the disc surface coating coming to bits. I wire brushed mine then gave them a real hammering about 5000 miles ago and it's been fine since.

Wheel nuts are tight:D

I have been racking my brain and I am thinking that maybe it's handrake related.

when I am on a hill and I release the handrake it takes 1/2 a second to release. also when parking up if I pull the handrake on I get alot of travel but if I release and pull it back up I get a normal amount of travel.

This symptom rings bells in my head about aspects of the rear drive/axle. That's all I can really remember but might be something to look up?

Sorry I can't be more help.

No.

But let me know if/when you find out. Mine is doing something similar, but can't yet find anything.

Sounds like a sticky caliper which has caused high spots on the discs?
