From what I've read, they do try to maximise the time you get on track, but obviously there can only be so many cars, and the possibility of some being broken, especially if what i've heard is true and they do encourage you to push the cars, with potential for ex/touring car drivers in the passenger seat.

Maybe it should read 'pit lane open' I'd figured it was sessioned, with you doing x laps in a car then bringing it in so someone else can have a go...

Also, unfortunately i'm sure I read somewhere that there might not be a VXR8 this year :(

I'm not sure what to expect tbh, but I thought it was an ideal change for someone with limited track time to blag some more, with someone with more ability in the passenger seat. My dad is also coming along for his first ever on track driving experience, and Erica whose been on twice, once in the VX, once in her old MX5, so it should be ideal (maybe more so) for them too.

My hope is that it'll fit in nicely somewhere between a KH / driving experience like you did, and an actual track day in your own car.

Evening, anyone suggest a decent 4*4 driving experience within a couple of hours of Edinburgh ?

Else a are there any private instructor led KH experiences rather than your regular Jim ones ?

Mates Mrs is obviously a good lass and asked rather then buying socks for Christmas.

Scot Off Road/Mad on Mud club, Glentarkie, near Newburgh in Fife. Did a course ten years ago and ended up buying an old Land Rover....

I'll second the Scot off road one, bought it for my wifes birthday last year and she loved it;

I went Quad biking with Skye and her mum at Highland Offroad in Dunkeld. Got it through Tesco Clucbcard and worked out at £30 (£120 value) and was a cracking laugh and they were very good. They offer a range of challenging Land Rover 4x4 driving activities over their assault course and through exhilarating forest tracks, all guided by their professional offroad driving instructors. You can choose from one of the latest models in the Land Rover and Range Rover fleet including Defender, Freelander 2, Discovery 4, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, driving for either an hour, half day or whole day.

Unfortunately, they no longer offer Quad biking through the Tesco scheme.

Today I was lucky enough to be treated by a client to a day at the Porsche Experience centre at Silverstone, initial thoughts were that it would be very tame, but completely the opposite!

Arrived, breakfast, meeting 'til lunch then three course lunch, 1.30pm the quickest briefing known to man and out to meet our individual instructors for the afternoon. Quick chat about the different cars on offer and then he pointed me to my first one..... A 997 gen2 GT3 RS, took me out to show me the lines and 2 laps later he handed me the keys. I did 2 laps fairly steadily until he got bored and said Let's see what you can do with this beast.... 3 laps later he acknowledged the fact that I'd learnt the track bloody quickly and asked if I had done much track work before! What a car...... Clutch super heavy with a serious gearbox to boot!

I ended up driving a GT3 RS, 911 Turbo, Turbo S, Panamera TurboS, 911 GTS, GT2 and a GT2 RS, all of which you were given complete free reign to drive as hard as you liked. It was interesting experiencing manual and PDK boxes, but all in all a mind blowing 3 hours solid driving.

It was split into 4 sections, a track section which was immense and where I spent most of my time, with occasional visits to the low friction stage, designed to mimic driving on wet/icy roads and a kick board which as you drive over kicks the back of the car up and you have to then control it on a specialy painted wet track, followed by a downhill section with water fountains.

Absolutely the best driver experience I have been on and I have done quite a few in the last 10 years. The speed of the GT2 turbo and Gt2 Turbo RS was absolutely mind blowing and had me open mouthed going into corners!

I am still absolutely buzzing!!!!!!
