some quick details - new 2ZR engine only revs to 7k so very different power delivery - but 250Nm peak torque, up 25%, and the torque at 6000rpm on the previous 2ZZ is now matched at 2000rpm on the new unit - rapid....and fewer emissions etc too. hopefully driving one in a couple o weeks..
Jeez Graeme, is this a turbodiesel or something?!
You are messing with my notions. A torquey engine which doesn't need its knackers revved off it to get the best out of it. In a modern Lotus Elise. Might have to sell a kidney. Or an S1

It does sound appealing especially as my S1 is about to get garaged up for the winter with a list of jobs as long as my arm to do
Pity I spent all my money on something else....

Come one then - who's gonna be the first SE'er to buy one? I am totally loving the looks of the new Exige and would seriously like to buy one. Just got the options list through from Brandon
Doesn't seem to be too much info on spec at the moment and alot of 'claimed' references rather than quoted figures. £50K is alot of money and I know from my previous Exige what I'd be adding - which means it could get quite expensive! Don't think I'd me making a commitment like that until I could at least drive the thing but I doubt I'd be disappointed.
Apparently the order book is filling up fast - anyone???

You'll need to be quick. I've read 65-70/80 are spoken for.

I've heard all 80 are gone now....and i dont think the first ones will be ready to drive until December, by which time you will already have had to commit to speccing the car otherwise you will forfeit your build slot.

I'm too scared to buy new and will picked up a used one.
The most expensive Evora on Pistonheads is £70,450 and cheapest 2011 supercharged is £46,750!!

1. Dom
2. Robin (but only for SC elise, V6 exige out of my price range, but will still come for a night out with the turnips).
3. Scotty
4. Andy G (work permitting)
5. Neil
6. Keith
7. Me too Saj
8. Campbell (depends on timing and also only if SC Elise involved...V6 Exige would need sale of both kids and even then they'd not fetch enough )
9. Ali (spent this years budget already but consoled that 2-11 trade in might be a wee bit more than Scottys)
10. mark_h - been 'humming and hawing' about having a V6 in my life!
11. Gary - don't like the look of the V6 but I'm up for a Norfrolic.
12. Frank - anytime except December
13. Kelvin - on jury duty from the 7/11 but will throw a sickie if it's a long drawn out case as apparently very few cases last longer than 200 days (it says here in the notes) FFS
14. Malcolm (f**k the extension)
15. Mr Momo - to get on the new track with the SC Elise and do a recce for the Elan 50th Anniversary next year
16. Kenny
17. Ed
18. BoynerT72
19. DDtB
20. Ceejam
21. RDH
22.Gasgas
23. Sanjoy (been 8 yrs since my last visit)
24. Benny
25. Paul G
26. Ali (work allowing)
27. Fluoxetine (Will definitely be in something Lotus shaped in 2013, so might as well have a looksee)
28. Colin (cjm) A mate form uni also works for Lotus and keeps asking when I'm coming to visit!
29. Peter76 (the missus said 'you can do what you like' - nice one!)
Seems I've missed a few pages of this thread! Are the test drives limited to 70/80 people then? Graeme also still owes me a factory tour as I recall!
Glad to see there's been a very positive reaction to the New Exige and rightly so! Can't wait to drive one. Any ideas as to how many Lotus are building or are they just built to order?

The number 80 that people are talking about are the build slots for the first batch of cars so if you havent put down a deposit yet you wont be getting one of the first lot of cars, which i believe will be delivered from feb onwards... who knows - it's difficult as lotus havent even built a demonstator yet so no chance of driving one until Nov/Dec by which time you will have had to have spec'd the car and paid a further deposit to confirm the build slot.

It will be very interesting indeed to see where Evoras "level off" value wise. It could be a hoot to have one of these while the kids are still small enough to fold into the back seats! Although I imagine the 2+2 version is less popular than the 2-seater, which might hold prices up and/or make them harder to source? Wouldn't need to be supercharged (I think?) to still offer enjoyable performance and a great mini-GT experience?
Obviously the financial engineering would not be trivial (well it might be for some!) but Lisa does really like the Evora so where there's a will there's a way...

Thanks George! However I am quite happy with the Evora as a prospect...have been in a couple, static or as pax, and I doubt a test drive would disappoint. It would be madness to try to stretch to something like that with our current priorities but things like the disappearance of nursery fees etc are on the horizon and that gets one thinking
Anyhoo, in view of the return to a deepening financial crisis (allegedly) I think we may have other priorities for a while yet

But it's still nice to dream. Coming for a proper look at yours could prove expensive so I shall avoid temptation
