Exige S - on a Cal Mac ferry?
Exige S - on a Cal Mac ferry?
Thinking of buying an Exige S but I stay in the Hebrides so the car would be a regular traveller on the Stornoway/Ulapool or Tarbert/Uig ferries. Wondered if anyone had experience of using these ferries with an Exige?

Not with an Exige, Finlay, but have had my (quite low) S1 on a variety of ferries over the years, without major issue. Some people drive on at an angle, which protects the splitter a bit, or they carry some 4x2 sections to lay down to add a bit of clearance! Saw this done at Portsmouth on the Stelvio 2001 tour

I've had mine on a couple. The worst one was probably the Corran ferry which has quite a steep ramp. You should be able to get up almost anything if you take it slowly and at an angle.

Forgot to add they did need planks of wood and the rubber splitter was bent right back on itself, Elise was just planks and no rubbing issues.

Thanks guys. Mark I recognise that ferry que - been there hundreds of times! Wow that Esprit is LOW, no wonder you had problems. To be fair the Lewis boat is by far the worst, they modified the bow ramp years ago by basically cutting a meter or so off it, thus making a very steep loading angle. RE going at an angle, its a narrow ramp. so little opportunity to actually do that.

I go up regularly, all my family are still up there! That was the stornoway end about 3.5 years ago with the Esprit, Elise was since then..

I've had the Elise on a few Calmac ferries with no problem.
Heading up to Lewis next Friday via Skye on the way up and Ullapool on the way down, so I'm hoping there won't be any issues.
