Re: Should I sell up?
Do not underestimate the Evora as a daily driver. The perfect newer Lotus for it, absorbs bumps in a way that an Elise/Exige would never do. Absolutely love mine (although not a daily driver). You just need to speak to BingoKing (Brian) on "The Lotus Forum" as he is our daily drive record holder with approx 17k miles in his (I think).
Alternative is to get a Europa as a daily driver and keep the Exige for the fun stuff. Although think the Europa's prices are very firm.
Cheers
George

Re: Should I sell up?
As has been mentioned, your Exige is a stunning car.
Would you not consider keeping it and getting something more practical for the daily commute (a tank would just about cope with the streets in Edinburgh)?
You know that if you get rid of the Exige, you'll regret it the next time you're on a quiet B-Road with no traffic about.

Aye, wasn't AndyG selling a scoob which would be ideal for bumps etc?

I do - but I love the Exigescottishselise wrote:Looks awesome but I think you want a change
340r? Or do you need something comfier / more robust?
Porka turbo?

Need a daily drive. 997 Turbo, GT3, Evora, R8, Aston V8 - or keep the Lotus.
Re: Should I sell up?
George beat me to it but might I also suggest a Europa. I got mine for similar reasons you are thinking of a change. The daily commute in an Elise wasn't particularly satisfying and it was getting a bit wearing with the second cam change meaning you were never really on it when the traffic ( should have ) allowed a quick overtaking manoeuvre
Europa is quieter, has near instant go from lowish revs thanks to the turbo and is a good buy for low depreciation
Ok it's still a Lotus so you still have quirky issues you aren't going to get with some other marques but I honestly think it's the best car I have owned ( cheers Graeme
)
I plan to move onto an Evora in the future but I'm really not in any rush as the Europa will be hard to part with.

Wish I had moved on a Europa sooner as I really do love them! Got the full Europa carpet set in my Exige and it really makes a difference in comfort.
As you mentioned though, it's those Lotus quirks that I am trying to get rid of!

Not really if I'm honest - prefer just to run one car full time.scottishselise wrote:2 cars an option?

Buy a stage 3, and stop worrying about the rattles not that you will be able to hear them after fitting the exhaust
. Mine rattled all the time I had it but nothing fell off. If you sell it you will only end up regretting it later.

It's good to hear that others have been in the same situation and either never moved off or came back to the Exige quickly. Has made me realise that I might really regret it myself.

On the upside Lewis, at least you don't live here in downtown Manhattan with that Exige - I have NEVER seen roads as bad as this, not even in India, your car would disappear down a pothole - god alone knows how the guys in the Gallardos/GT3s/M3s etc put up with it.....!

Re: Should I sell up?
Your exhaust sounded good the other day when you blitzed me on the way down to the Maybury - I gave chase but traffic prevented me from catching you, otherwise you would have been overtaken by a maniac in a Toyota Previa (around the outside, obviously)
Seriously, I think you should look at getting a run about for a wee while .... plenty of places you can park your car safely for 3-6 months that will be cheaper than running an Aston for one week ... then see how you feel; if you haven't missed it or can never be ar$ed to go spring it from the lockup for a quick blat around the country roads, then sell it mid-to-late summer and move on. You may find you like jumping back and forth between the cars, and if you don't it's easy to get rid of the run about and/or the exige.
I sort of know where you are coming from, though - I had forgotten I owned an Exige until I got the call telling me it had been sold
Cheers,
Robin

Never saw you Robin, sorry
I think a test drive in an Aston (as that's what i'm swinging towards) and a break from the Exige for a couple of weeks is not a bad idea actually. Might even advertise the Exige to see how I get on - guess I won't know what it will return until I gauge interest. Have seen a couple sell around the £20-21k mark recently which is strong money for an N/A.
Graeme: didn't realise you were in NYC! The roads are not half awful over there
