The Day After Tomorrow - share your snow Armageddon shots

Post by campbell » Wed Dec 01, 2010 2:56 pm

I'll start...

Our street on Monday morning, after "heavy snow" since Friday...

Image

Local swing park...aaahhh...

Then, "the day after tomorrow" (ie this morning), we see 2 igloos in this picture...only one of them is our car...

Image

Note - this is AFTER having cleared the weekend's several inches of snow

Image

And our street this morning (slightly over-exposed, camera going bonkers)

Wash day

Now THAT'S a breakdown truck

The bike shed, 18", and we are at sea level.

Note the new post on a car jack to prevent the bowing roof from collapsing.

We have no car at the moment. N3 is in the garage, no way to get it out with 18" of snow, and the Honda is outside on the road with a knackered tyre. KF are supposed to be coming tomorrow, but what are the odds on that.

No need to go anywhere though, house is warm, bloody should be for what it is costing me in oil, fire is lit, and stacks of food etc in the house. No power cuts so far, but the generator is on stand by.

Sitting here watching the problems on the roads and just glad that we are both retired and do not have to go anywhere.

Peter,
forgot to mention that those photos are stunning...

Tut,
I imagine the dog is enjoying the snow?

They normally play in the front garden, but although Khan can get onto the lawn, albeit skiing on his belly, it is too deep for Zara who has to stay on the drive.

These are all brilliant, cheers guys!

Peter, very stylish shots of Forth Bridge. Rare to see snow on it. Cherish those. And the ones of Eve of course...when she is grown up there might not be any snow any more - or there might be LOADS more, who knows!!

Extent of my snow clearing tonight was around 200 yds from main street round into our cul de sac...only to be defeated by the last 20 yds (and incessant snowfall icing up under our "snowplough", my Mum's trusty Saxo VTR). Gutted. Had to be pushed and dug out again by several neighbours. Not even Alistair's Juha Kankonen (sp) stylee driving could rescue the situation.

Does not bode well for extracting the Octavia in time for Friday evening departure to Arrochar. Although one kind neighbour has offered to tow us out to the main street using his tidy Merc 4x4 :thumbsup

Least of my worries though. Al is trying to get to Prague for a "winter weekend" tomorrow morning :damnfunny
