Accident!

Post by PhilA » Tue Aug 08, 2006 2:21 pm

Was a sore one!
on the way back from Crieff (well, was Inverness, but went back via Glen Coe!) was in a queue of cars going at a steady 55 mph.
guys in a mondeo over take the queue.

was just past me when he hit the brakes...
next thing the car jumps in the air abit and a 2 foot boulder comes through the back of the car!!

the boulder had been sitting on the other side of the road and he had gone right into and over it!
took out the back right wheel/suspension and ripped off the bumper in bits. quite a crunch!
didnt see the front of the car, but did see some steam/smoke in the rear mirror :P

i avoided the bits the boulder removed ;) "go high"

unlucky to the guy

Jesus!

Nasty - hope he was okay. I could probably say something dreary about awareness, but dare say it could happen to anyone....

aye, he parked up on the wrong side of the road and got out of the car.
he held it well considering he had hit a mountain and lost a wheel.

was going over a blind crest tho....

Now I can be dreary....

...pretty f'kin silly overtake and it sounds like he got away lightly. Would have been nice if, instead of a boulder, it was a Nissan Micra with mum, dad & 2 kids in it....

Yeah - my point is twatty overtaking like that usually results in innocents (like the mythical micra) being involved... He was facking lucky that it was just a rock. Not actually suggesting I'd have preferred it to be a car full of kids FFS!
