zandvoort/Ring/Spa FULL TRIP REPORT
Hello people, Its once again time to start planning SE's next jaunt
abroad.
Details have just been released for Lotus on Tracks october trip.
Basically, for the SE contingent:
Thursday 12/10/06 : DFDS ferry. departs newcastle 1730, arrives 0930
Friday 13/10/06 : Zandvoort trackday, open pit lane
Saturday 14/10/06 : Drive to ring to watch VLN race
Sunday 15/10/06 : Drive the ring, public day 0900-1800
Monday 16/10/06 : Drive the ring, public day 1300-1800
Tuesday 17/10/06 : Spa trackday, open pit lane
wednesday 18/10/06: DFDS ferry. departs IJmuiden 1800, arrives 0900
For those who fancy it but have never been, rough costs are:
Ferry, if theres 6 of us, with 3 cabins, is £181 return
trackday at zandvoort. £110
trackday at Spa. £145
Ring ticket for 25 laps. £208
petrol. roughly. £300
Beer food and hotels. £400
so total for the week is roughly £1163 plus a set of tyres and
brakes if your hard on the car. thats the bad news. The good new
is you get to drive 3 of the best circuits in the world. All are
very fast, flowing circuits that are a complete revelation compared
to Knockhill.

how you tease, would love to head back over there for the ring alone.
coming back from europe i bumped into the LOT boys at the ferry terminal, seemed like a great bunch of lads. aLOT of cash but def would be worth it. will see if i can get the time off work........

As I said in the other house I'm going (subject to clearance from mission control).
I was surprised at how well the cars stood up to the abuse last month - 3,000 miles ish in pretty high temperatures (everything was too hot to touch by 10am), but I think a lot of that was down to Paul telling people not to f*ck about and get their cars properly serviced and spanner checked before going. Sound advice here also - if you're going to splash ~1.5K on a "holiday" then don't have it spoiled because you run out of disks or pads after 100 miles or because that ball joint is knackered ...
One way of making it a bit cheaper is to share a car - obviously on a "you bin it, you bought it" basis. No doubt McNutter's car will be broken by the time we go and he will be sharing mine
