Ex Police Cars (NLC)

Post by ROSSGR » Fri Jan 15, 2010 9:25 pm

ANyone had any dealings with them??

Good buy for not a vast outlay, keeping some money for repairs

http://www.fleetleasingltd.co.uk/photos ... l9_big.jpg

Looking at this for £4k, 2005 model. Seems a lot of car for little money

I know it will ahve a full serice history but it will have had the arse raped off it, no daily checks whatsoever but who does. There may be the odd hole in the plastics due to ariels.handsfrre kit etc but you could live with that, get it repaired.

They are all down south so looking for any personal advice before travelling away down and just picking something out, got some nice Volvo/Focus etc kicking about

There's a few places in the yorkshire area that deal specifically with ex-force vehicles. I looked in to it a year or 2 back... was looking at ex-traffic cars (BMW 330's, T5's etc), but didn't take the plunge in the end.
Need to look around, as there's a lot of scruffy looking ones.
If you're looking for something to run in to the ground... and you can get a decent one, it might be worth a shot.

Much will depend on what it was used for. I wouldn't touch a standard patrol car... but traffic cars & CID cars are probably worth a look.
I have no signature.

I remember back in the early 90's, a friend of an ex girlfriend bought her "1st car"
She showed me her White Astra - 89 - F reg - 3 years old 100,000 miles
it had 6 black grommets in the roof - where they had removed the lights! - lol :damnfunny

I told it it was ex cop car & she didnt believe me.

There must be plenty of lightly used ones around, as they spend most of their time parked up out of sight playing with their guns.

It would be the same as marrying a Prostitute........If you could wipe out any "previous" from your mind

Many different Drivers/Johns.

Regularly but not meticulously serviced.

High Mileage.

Driven very hard.....when not properly warmed up

Dodgy History.

A Roads, B Roads,Off Roads, Dual Carriageways and Police vehicles only

Possibly rear ended !

You wouldn't know who has been in it..... and what happened when they were.

Me

I wouldn't (Prozzer or Police Car).........unless it was the Chief Constables :D

:cheers

The X dog cars are generally good as they have a single driver who takes it home.

There is another one with a similar setup but I can't remember what one.

You really need to know the history of the car you want to buy especially with traffic cars as we use certain techniques to stop cars if they fail to stop which can cause damage. Need to see if its had any repairs done to it. Knowing how they're driven, I wouldn't buy one. My own opinion obviously.
