Jolly good. I was assuming that you had to send your ECU back to Hondata in the States as I did, but I presume you had it converted in the UK.

Sent it to CPL, spoke to a guy called Guy :D Tried to explain my problem but wasn't interested. All he said was " do you want a Hondata or not".

A one day turn around, Costing me £750 though.

The man is a prick.

Same sort of result when I spoke to him twice. Told him I had nothing but help from the Elise community so far whether I had bought from them or not, until I had the misfortune to speak to him.

Yup, I won't deal with CPL for that reason.

Did you go for the K-Pro then Alan? You could have just got a K100 if you knew someone with a K-Pro you could borrow to do the actual mapping.

Yeah, Kpro Dan.

£200 more expensive but at least i can get my car mapped properly ....... when i find someone that will map it properly that is. I have a map done by Artech for another stark car, Same manifold etc .... that should be close enough for now.

Heard nothing good about CPL (including their mapping skills) but always try and find out for myself, So far i am not impressed.

I thought they were the British Dealers or something ? so every Hondata has to go there.

Well I don't get mine from them. It will be very difficult to find someone to map it properly for you, in my experience.

I would recommend running a wideband lambda and datalogging it if you can to make sure the map is ok. If you have any issues with it once you get it running give me a shout.

Cheers

Alan & Dan, Craig did his own mapping for his S/C Honda S1, along with Corbie and Ricky. N/A should be more straightforward.

Wallace Aberdeen have done plenty, but can not recommend them personally as they have not done my mapping. I got my map from Corbie based on one he had done for a friend with a S/C Integra JDM, and I doubt if it could be improved on based on its smoothness throughout the rev range, though it has never had the mapping checked on a R/R.

Bloody ridiculous the price charged for converting your own ECU to a K-Pro, same price as a new Emerald. My whole S/C kit was £1500 from America including a K-PRO.

Prices have gone up considerably now Tut what with the exchange rate and that. I bet that same kit would cost you £2500 now.

The major problem I have found with custom mapping is the partial throttle mapping which usually seems to be ignored. I want a car to drive like OE not like a lumpy racecar.

Never drove Craig's so can't comment on his mapping but have driven Scotty's/Sanjoy's 340R with its custom map and it was awful to drive unless you were flat out all the time.

I have done some tweaks for Sanjoy's map but haven't had the car back to upload them yet.

Thanks for the help,

I have converted my loom to use the JDM ECU and its wideband 02, so should be covered. Unless you mean the fancy pants after market ones ?

Not sure you can datalog the JDM effectively. Will check and let you know.

Earlier K-Pro's including mine do not have the Data logging facility, but ones from serial No 4111 have it built in.

If you get the chance Dan then try N3.

Promise you that you will not get a smoother engine, 2,4,6 then pulls from top at 25 tuts. 6th all the time on road runs except for slow steep hills and junctions, through Villages at 30, then just accelerate away. Better fuel economy on a road run than Clarkyboy's standard S2.

I'm also looking at a K-Pro and getting the mapping checked.

Car is smooth enough and pulls well bit there is a hint of pinking at low revs under light load and it seems pretty thirsty. Averaged 23 mpg to date with a high of 25.5 mpg on the way back from London. The Honda S2 varied between 20 - 35 mpg on the road but was nowhere as quick or smooth.
