Just another big
for Craig and the team at MMC. Car was in yesterday to sort the warranty issues they discovered during my recent service. All sorted in a minimal amount of time so that I could get the car back for lunchtime and Craig went over and above the call of duty yet again by getting the guys in the workshop to do a wee job on the car that I was planning to do myself. Has saved me a couple of hours of my time and it's much appreciated!

Didn't get a chance to mention before as went straight on my hols after the LOT trackday. I needed new pads fitted, Sods Law that on the sunday prior I go to remove the front wheels and eventually snap the locking wheel nut tool.
With 2 mm on the visible side of the pads it was looking like a short day but the guys got me sorted up a KH on the Mon morning by removing the bolt then, very kindly, swapping out the pads on both sides as well.
Excellent bit of service!!
Also a great bit of thinking to come up for the day and show of the Evora whilst offering some technical back up (FOC).

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Although the tyre prices from MMC are good, when the SE discount is applied, they do charge £20 PER CORNER to fit.

A follow up to my recent C service. Had 3 little grumbles develop. Car was taken back in by Craig before I went on holiday and sorted by Calum that morning. Turned out one was unconnected to the recent service but all fixed F.O.C. and back to me that evening with a follow up call next day from Craig - thanks guys.

£20 per corner is ridiculous. It should be around £5 if you supply to a fitter, zero if you buy the tyres from the dealer, as per Ronnie.

I've been getting tyres swapped on a fairly regular basis this year to date and on average a tyre change is circa £12 to £15 for that service - I don't expect to be charged an additional premium for the fitting of new tyres unless I getting an internet style discount in which case I factor in the installation cost.
I'm suprised that a dealership complex of the size that JM group have there they don't have their own tyre fitter!

Following Del's post about it coming to the time when Craig has to feedback to his bosses at MMC, I just wanted to add a final thank you for all the effort Craig, Keith and the team have gone to with my Exige over the past year. I've got rid of the Exige now, but we'll definitely continue to use MMC for the Elise, and any future Lotus we buy, based on the great costs of the service and the extra effort Craig has put in to doing lots of extra things for us both.

I recently had my trackrod ends changed by MMC. I got through to Craig, and he was most helpful. The AMP3 trackday was only a few days away, and he managed to squeeze me in the next day. No 'while you wait appointments' left but with a days notice that's no surprise. Picked the car up at 4.45pm, and was happy with the service so far.
MMC recommended a Geo check which I'd previously booked in with CLCM. Willie books up fast so I'd booked it earlier in the week for Friday. This was Wednesday, so I needed to drive the car home, and then back on the Friday morning.
On driving the car, I discovered unsurprisingly that the toe was miles out, with slight tyre squeal whilst driving in a straight line. It wasn't till I got home that I realised how far out the toe was. With the NS straight in the arch, the OS wheel was turned out by at least an inch. The drive back into Edinburgh was very wet, and I would describe the car in those conditions as almost totally undriveable/unsafe.
I agree that ideally the car should've gone straight to CLCM for a geo check, but that is not always practical. I believe it's common practice to just spin the old trackrod end off the rack without loosening the lock nut. Maybe this is to keep the toe in roughly the right place, but when replacing an old style part with the new style part that's a different shape there will always be more of a problem.
The point I want to raise with MMC is that is is fine that they do not undertake full geometry checks on these cars themselves, but I really think that a company like that could at least have a set of the old style visual devices to at least set the toe to be reasonably close. The way my car was left you could have got it a lot closer just judging it by eye. This is the second time I've had work done on the steering by MMC, and both times the toe was left massively out. I would have thought that driving any distance in a car in that condition would not be good for it. Agreed I drove it further than I should've but that's not the point.
I think that a company trying to improve it's customer base should not only try and make the prices more affordable, but should also try and improve the quality of the work they carry out. As with Quality Assurance they should be striving for continuous improvement. "Where can we do it better?". I would think that the majority of people on here wouldn't mind paying a bit more for the services of MMC if the standard of work improves/continues to improve.
