CCI's track excess is something crazy like £5k IIRC.

In my ignornace I assumed that you needed track insurance before you'd be allowed on.

That changes things somewhat. What would happen though if you went off and hit someone on the way off too. Normally they'd claim on your insurance. If you didn't have insurance and they didn't have insurance whats the position?

Might just find myself taking the chance now.

Track day insurance will only cover your own car, not a 3rd party. Bottom line is if you tag someone during an off, its up to them to claim on their insurance, if they have it.

This is why driving standards are so important when you're on a track day :thumbsup

Basically its every man for himself. If you crash on your own, you pay, if someone crashes into you, you still pay. Even if you have insurance, and you wipe somebody out, your insurance will only pay to fix your car.

So you have to be aware of the risks. After all of that, i have never insured myself on track, just taken the risks and driven accordingly (as i do on the road, even with insurance)

I shall sit in 3rd gear the whole day on the inside line with cushions duct taped all round the car. :thumbsup

Thanks for your help. I think my arm has been twisted sufficiently.

You know it makes sense ;)

A few sighting laps with an experienced driver at the helm will go a long way. Get them to sit in the pax seat with you driving too, for pointers on line and braking.

Enjoy!! :thumbsup

I've done a few track days on the bike and was at one ferrari day down south but a little refreasher wouldn't go a miss. Its always different when you're in your own wheels I think.

Will get signed up if there are places left.

Tut, I'd love to come but the car will be getting run in for at least 500 miles after the full engine rebuild. It's also got a 4000 mile trip to do to Vilnus at the end of the month, so i'm not wanting to overly stress it too soon

I'll probably come to take photos and say hello though :thumbsup

Frolics is about 3000, covering 4 tracks and 2 days at the Ring!

Even in a new S2 with all the fancy cup holders, probax seats, toyota engines and hairbags, 4000 miles is a lot....

I have none of these things :D

Tut,

I'm 95% there but cant commit fully right now. I'm in meetings all day tomorrow, a funeral on Thursday for a good bit of the day, hospital visit on Friday morning and meeting in the afternoon. My hope is that nothing jumps up between now and Friday pm that needs to be attended to on Monday. Don't want to part with my £140 then not be able to get there. On Friday I'll know better but I think it'll be fine.

If you could keep one in your back pocket for me then I'd be forever indebted. Would even buy you a coffee.
