Have got a free 2 hour taster lesson booked with pro scot in kirkcaldy for saturday morning.

They reckon its a great taster before doing the cbt. To be honest, i just want to get cracking with it, but i'll go along with it (coz its free) and i can book the cbt straight afterwards (assuming i dont fail miserably at driving round a car park)

woohoo.

What exactly will you do for 2 hrs though, Neil :?: IIRC you aren't allowed on public highway without CBT so... surely you'll just be riding round a school playground or whatever the school uses - which is pretty much the same as the morning bit of the CBT.

I think it is just an extra 2 hours of piddling about in the training area, before you do the cbt, so its extra time on the bike. They recommended it if you had no motorbike experience. As my experience amounts to riding 2 bikes around my work car park, i said i was a complete novice,

Maybe i'll just phone up tomorrow and ask to cancel the 2 hour taster and just get my cbt booked instead

i'd cancel the piddling about and just do your cbt,

most people have no bike experience, do the CBT and thats them on their way.

Sounds like a plan, if you intend to CBT anyway :thumbsup Hardly anyone doing CBT will have even sat on a bike prior to the day... but just about everyone passes.

Have fun :D

Don't see the point in a 2 hour taster. The CBT is a taster really. It's a piece of cake, so just do it.

If you enjoy the CBT, do the DA on a school bike, and then once you've passed, choose you machine. Skip the 125 phase completely; they are only good for city commuting, and no use for 60mph stuff. Sure, they'll do 60 or even 80, but you've got to thrash them so hard to do it. So you end up with a choice of holding up traffic at 50, or thrashing the life out of your poor wee 125cc. Also, you've no flexibility with gears with a 125cc, you've got to be in the right gear all the time. With a bigger bike, you can just pull away in whatever you happen to be in. Big help when learning.

Oh, and make sure it's garaged or hidden. Chaining it up doesn't stop chavs setting fire to it

EDIT: If you want to ride to work, you'll have to do the full test or stay off the motorway. Just a thought.
