It's a good giggle right enough. Ended up doing it at Gleneagles (taking a place from one of our corporate group clients who couldn't get his drunken arse out of bed
)
Good fun. Bit o cash though, which I really need to be spending on the car

Was there a few weeks ago, good fun.
I've got the business card of the 'coach' that took us, and he said I can book him direct and it will be less than going through Cluny, I can pass on his details if you want..
details would be great cheers. we didn't have a coach so i guess thats why it was cheaper for us to do it. mean't we could spend as long as we liked on whatever stand getting the hang of the trickier birds. the grouse was a bit of a surprise. goes like a rocket straight over your head.

I'm up for it too. I have been before so know what I'm doing although I'm still useless. The inlaws are farmers and are gutted if they miss one while I'm extatic if I hit one.
Another thing woth doing is the Rage off road buggie at Oakley

They have 600cc engines and are good for 50mph accross a ploughed field. I did it for my stag and am looking for an excuse to go back.

Cluny is a nice tidy set up but is pricey compared to most other places (except Gleneagles).
If you are looking for as good a setup for a good bit less cash try North Ayrshire Shooting Ground which is near Dalry (20 mins from Glasgow Airport). The place is a little less corporate shiny than Cluny but it’s the same fun for less cash and I’m pretty sure they actually have more traps.
Wrong side of the country for most of you guys but I know you are not averse to the odd bit of extra mileage.
I think they have a web site and I have a number kicking around if anyone wants it.

Ed,
The Stag thing is a complete con, as most of these things are.
From memory the guys charge about 15p a clay. The cartridges are a bit less than you were paying a box but if you buy them in cases of 250 or 500 they are about 25% cheaper again. I don’t know if they charge for gun hire cos I have always brought my own.
Getting on as an experienced shooter (or with an experienced shooter) is the key, if you have to pay someone to walk round with you then it starts to get pricy (as for all places).
You could always give Tom or Jim a call.
If you are going out give me a shout, I’m always up for a shot (my shooting is nearly as bad as my driving) and if there are any complete novices I can run them through the basics.
