Just negotiated a weekend pass

I have decided to take the day off, so will be departing south Edinburgh area (Dobbies Garden Centre near Sherriffhall r'bout, A720 city bypass) around 9am with a view to a scenic route as far as I can manage. I think I may have devised a belter which adds around 50 miles and a couple of hours over the direct (boring) route - approx 7 hours driving plus a nice lunch stop somewhere in the northern Pennines or Yorkshire Dales. Would still put us at the hotel (and bar) around 6pm.
