What should Tom buy?
More that there's no 'correct answer'... The cars constantly change weights - 2 cars of the same year can be different. There's been a programme of gradually changing stuff as the car's got older, usually to the detriment of weight.MacK wrote:Okay, was just trying some obvious answers to the question nobody seems to know the correct answer for![]()
Or do they?

Well mine is a last of the line K engined car so the only heavier variant should be a 111S with aircon, supposedly 15kg more. However, the 'yota cars are at least another 50kg heavier with a loaded 111R going near to/over 900kg. So when you work it out, there's very little difference between mine and a loaded 111R in terms of power/weight.
Ok, time for some female words of wisdom
Currently owning an S1 and S2 IMO the S2 is a much better day to day car, easier to get in and out of, roof very very seldom leaks even in the heaviest rain, stick a Janspeed zorst on it with a ITG air filter and it sounds awesome.
Having said that I have had the S1 now since March and love it. It's a bit on a pain in the arse getting in and out of especially if only going short journeys to and from work etc.... but on the track, much much more fun to drive than the S2. It leaks alot in the rain but then the interior is leather so just wipe it dry and it is still a brilliant car.
If I had the cash ....what would I go for???
Well, more than likely another S2, mainly because its easier to get in and out of, doesnt leak nearly as much and (if Toyota) powered, you can't really go wrong.
Alternatively you could buy a cheap S1 (around 8.5K) and buy a Toyota Celica for every day travelling to work use (around 7K)
. Best of both worlds really.

Its a fascinating one the 111s vs 111r. The 111s seems to have a lot more torque, the 111r only coming to life on 2nd cam, which gives much more pronouned power....simon wrote:Well mine is a last of the line K engined car so the only heavier variant should be a 111S with aircon, supposedly 15kg more. Its only really top end where the yota helps....on track its a far bigger challenge keeping it on cam, especially 2 up, but give it a long straight and you'll see the difference.....till my f***ing limiter starts to stop play at 6k again!
