Roof bars

Post by offshorematt » Mon Jul 04, 2005 10:28 pm

Anyone know if the fibreglass struts that support the roof are expensive to replace? Mine aren't even - looks like the driver's head is too big for the car when the roof is up

Just call Murray Motor Company in Edinburgh.

Don't know if they're fibreglass but they don't look like metal and you can't bend them...
Wanted to know approx cost before I called a dealer. Nothing worse than spending fifteen minutes trying to get them to understand what you're asking for only to have to say 'I'll leave it just now, thanks' when they turn out to be £100 each!!!

Matt, how about calling Elise Parts?
They have access to second hand parts like that.

Yip, they are fibreglass (as are the cant rails and even the windscreen surround, incidentally!!)

I'd second a call to Geary at Eliseparts...

Looks like second hand is the way to go - Murray Motors wants £152 for the pair. There called 'bows' incidently...

When I was explaining which bits I was after, the guy on the parts desk asked if my Elise was a softtop  Doesn't fill you with confidence...

Got one second hand one from Eliseparts - they only had one in stock and since I've fitted it I've realised only one of them was deformed anyway... Problem sorted :D

surely if one is uneven it's just too long - so you could cut it back to size?
