Yeh, those honda's are pure talent maskers if the driver is a straightline hero, but trust me, they are alot harder to lap quickly compared to a standard elise.

Re: R500
I'm not afraid to admit that i find jons 160bhp cateringvan terrifyingly quick.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Maybe in slow traffic, but driven close to 100% they are a bit of a handfull?mac wrote:Gareth wrote:Yeah but we're all power hungry at the end of the day.mckeann wrote:the great thing about caterhams is that you dont need a huge amount of power to enjoy it. Re: R500
I have driven some lower BHP Caterhams but not at KH.
Guys, I expect the R500 to be quite difficult to drive properly, much more so than lower bhp cars. The power delivery will be a lot more severe so the adjustments during corners will be a lot harder. That's part of attraction for me. Looking forward to the experience.
Andy knows me quite well
I can't justify spending 40K GBP on the new R500 so looking for a suitable alternative at a much cheaper price. Also, no doubt I will have a few spins in it. Hope I can avoid Mass in tyre the next time

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

I have meant to get a pax on Kev's 7 for the last few TDs, but never had the chance. Also Kev on 7 means DRY track
, which is what we want.

My car can still scare the holy crap out of me. I'd love to get something quicker but I've not came anywhere near the potential of the RS'A@ yet.

What spec is your 7? How long have you had it?

Re: R500
I think my feeling towards power in a Caterham, is very much like my feeling towards women’s breasts.
More than a handful can indeed be a waste, however having more than you can handle can be far more entertaining.

It's a standard Roadsport A - full cage, 135bhp supersport engine - track suspension, stiff front ARB - adjustable rear, 6 speed box and LSD.
Had it about 18 months now, but it's only really been the last 6 months that I've started to use it anywhere near properly - it's just the acceleration through the gears, feels manic, it's pretty quick with only the honda'ed elises getting past - in the Wright hands it's capable of a mid 57 second lap on the old format of Knockhill IIRC.
