Like I said before, they are a mahooosive operation but I made sure I always spoke to the same guy in the bodyshop (which annoyed him no end, but at least I got my car back quicker and could keep tabs on where it was at).

CSK423 form here used Hardy Inglis who are a porsche approved place down next to the clyde and had a list of faults when he picked his car up, and warned me not to go there. Grills missing, scratches inside, loose exhaust and bent grills were some of the things he mentioned on another forum.

I honestly had no problems atall with Allied. Although, if your car comes out with a grey front end instead of white, I take no responsibility

DON'T GO TO MITCHELL INGLIS (was Hardy Inglis) THERE S*H*I*T !!!!

Had so many problems it was unreal, 20+ all caused by them after a rear clam was replaced, scratched my dash board, wrong fixings, broke internal boot lid, damaged the hood etc. etc. unreal and they were so un helpful in trying to rectify the problems they caused, kicked off big time on many occasions car went in for repair in may and after it went in and out severel several times I finally got it back totally fault free in Sept'ish.

But yet I have just noticed one of the rear grilles is starting to discolour ie rusting and will need painted again.

THEY ARE MURDER !!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad luck. Still, shouldn’t mean you are off the road.

If the only problem is a hole in the clam then take it in and get them to order the parts up for you. Sum tape over the hole and you should be back on the road.

If they call you when the clam is in and they can put it on I can’t see why you would be off the road for more than a day.

As for KH, a new clam on the way should just make you bolder.

Exactly, I drove mine for 6weeks with 2rolls of duct tape holding the front together.

It did occur to me that if it's getting fixed anyway, be as well to make the most of it at KH! However, it'll be too tight to make it over for tonight, much as I'd like to.

Not sure I need the duct tape - nothing is flapping or hanging off.

Seeing Allied tomo morning so will wait for their assessment.

Likewise. :)
Did a sprint and would even have passed it's MOT but failed for 'inappropriately attached number plate' (more duct tape).

Goudies in Kilmaurs (about 20 mins from Glasgow) are good. They've painted a few bits for my cars in the past and look after the bodywork on the McRae's brother's Mk2's. Last time i was in they even had an elise rear clam sitting.

Can get their number if you'd like.

Sassy, I got my car fixed at Allied. Please excuse my forthcoming French.

Absolutely sh1te job they did initially. I had to practically teach the fucckers how to fix it...I have the manual for the car so i knew.

Eleven things incomplete with the car when I first picked it up. They also had a fuccking 4 mile "test drive" without my permission. I bet they didnt let it warm up either...ha!

Elephant approved ....pfffffft....what the hell do elephant care....Ive learnt the hard way that everyone is scratching everyone backs except for us suckers.

I kept the ba$tard straight throughout though but I hate having to do that. He tried to tire me out by fobbing me off with half jobs. He ended up replacing every last part that I had a problem with.

This has maintained the bitterness that has been caused by attempted vandalism, a wreckless taxi driver, and the bloody cowboys that MMC are.

My car has only ever come to harm in the hands of other people.

It is immaculate right now but it requires real effort to keep everyones hands off it.

Anyway, I dont think the arseholes at Allied should get another chance.

Go with your instinct....after reading the forum of course

By the way..just phone up the fantastic helpline at lotus and ask them how long parts take to be sent anywhere....a few days. none of this three weeks sh1te Allied will talk about.

All the best

I went to see Allied on Friday and the guy I spoke to said he'd had two Lotuses of his own, and seemed to know his stuff. Said he'd order my parts today given the Easter hols, and they should be about a week, then it would only take a day or two in the workshop.

Apparently MMC send their cars to Allied for body work.

I'm fairly confident in him, though I will note the mileage before I hand the keys in!

As for the insurance - I'm not going to argue, they've approved straight off a £3k+ job without making me shop around or pushing me to a garage of their choice.

We'll see how it goes...
