Guys,
Just gave my IACV a good cleaning out, but on testing I think (only think) I may have a problem with it.
Ignition on & off - it moves up and down as you would expect. When the ignition is on though, and it squirt a little carb cleaner in I can sometimes hear/feel the motor pulse. It doesn't do this all the time, just sometimes. Should it be doing it all the time when the ignition is on?
I'm thinking it's a broken wire somewhere in the loom, close to unit itself, hence the occasional fail situation, but it could be fine and I'm just paranoid.

Rich
That's a motor for an old 1400 that used it to move the butterfly
Mandy's is like yours and adds air direct to the plenum
Mac
I'll have a spare you can swap out to try if you have idle problems

Mac, are you having idlling problems (worse than usual with that PTP lumpy idle) - what makes you think it doesn't work. I had a wiring problem with my TPS recently (similar connector IIRC) - the cables had come away from the pins in the crimp (fractured) - try tugging gently on each cable to the TPS one at a time to see if you can provoke the motor movement.
Cheers,
Robin

Robin,
It's an over high idle - sits around 1.5 to 2k
drives normal - just idle
Cheers

Won't start now!
Couldn't get into the lower machine screws with the alloy plenium in situ. Split the plenium and removed the IACV, cleaned and refitted. Plenium back on, all wire reconnected and went to start.
Engine spins, smell of fuel but it's not catching.
Flattened the battery now, so will have a try again one the battery is back up to full strength nd check all the connects again.

Had a wiggle of the four wires going into the IACV, all seem fine, although they may be a break further down.
When I put the ignition on I can hear it move, like wise when I turn the ignition off.
Car still won't start - got fuel, got spark so I'm think it must be an issue with the mixture. So I'm back thinking my IACV is knackered.
Just about to look at the manual to see if it backs up my theory.
Will post up with when anything changes
