NLC - Skip hire cost?

Post by Rory » Thu Nov 22, 2007 12:59 pm

Moving house in a couple of weeks, and I'll need a skip for the first couple of days to put some minging decking and garden features into.

Anyone know a ballpark figure for skip hire?

Also, can they be got on a saturday?

Ta.

We hired one recently, worked out about £45 for 3 days. But delivery and pickup times are "flexible" (ie totally fabricated...) That was for a 4cubic yard jobbie.

Thanks Richard.

Not as bad as I thought it could be.

I'll see what Sanjoy quotes me first though

The 4 cm one is a tiny skip, for normal size expect to pay well over £100, depending where you live. Most of them will not charge for the time it sits with you, and will lift/drop on a Saturday.

Be clear with them what it's for in advance cos some places have a surcharge for certain types of refuse (they have to pay more to dump it)...

Depending where you live - if it has to be on the street you may need a permit from the council?

Might have been 6 cubic yards then, it was a midi skip.

Proper big skips (f*ck knows what they're called) like what you see folk fly tipping into all the time are £140 & up :(

All to do with the landfill charges these days :x

Looked into this & ended up going the pikey route - skanky old Transit van from Economy Van Hire at £25 for a 4hr stint & wheeched the shyte to the coup maself
