You may object to the slagging but I am afraid I objected to the anti Liverpool stories published in the Sun after Hillsborough (and yes I have a long memory but then I knew people at Hillsborough), which showed no respect at all for the dead and I amongst many other found very offensive. Free speech is very much allowed in the UK thankfully and you are clearly entitled to your view just like I am to mine. I am sure that there are many people at your work who have similar morals to you and I was in no way targetting anyone on this forum.

Just now I am not interested in reading about whether Colin McRae did or did not have a licence just believe his family should be left to grieve in peace. Just my opinion.

I have worked for The Sun for the past 20 years and have covered many of the big stories that have happened here in Scotland including Lockerbie, Dunblane,Maddie McCann and the McRae tragedy.

...

At Dunblane, our paper was instrumental in the media pulling out of the town and NOT covering the funerals of the victims.
Come on, be honest, it's all about selling papers isn't it?

I am not having a dig at you personaly as the reason the media exists is that the public buys or watches what is created generating money for the producer creating more demand.

However I dont read the Sun as when I have in the past only page 3 has raised my interest. I would not be proud that it took a national newspaper to prevent journalists attending murdered childrens funerals and sums up my opinion of certain parts of the media , not just the Sun.

On the few occasions when I have known the true facts behind a story the newspaper have got it wrong , I assume that is the case with all reports so believe very little I read in the papers. I read the Times on occasion b.t.w.

Does it really matter about his licence anyway?

If your driver licence was to be taken off you then you wouldnt forget how to drive.

Helecopter maintenance record is more important surely.

AAIB will not come out with an answer unless they are 100% they can back it up, they will release nothing apart from "We'll let you know" until then.

Until they have done their work anything else is conjecture. He may have had a full license, he may well have had a fully serviceable aircraft. The scheduled maintenance reduces the chance of an accident but never precludes it and missing such maintenance does not cause accidents in the same way as not having a driving license does cause accidents.

I have been involved in accident investigations and I really don't like the speculation, especially as it implies that he was somehow responsible through negligence.

My Father is editorial director for a number of local papers (and worked on the Sun many years ago)... based on what I know from him, nothing is ever done unless it is thought that sales will increase. And I'd take most of what I read in any paper with a pinch of salt - there's alays a spin on it.

I'm with Rich, until the AAIB report , nothing can really be known.
