Wheel arch liners
Wheel arch liners
I noticed a tapping noise the other night which was in sync with how fast i was going , automatically i though " sh*t somthings gone wrong with the gearbox again " but after some inspection , i found that the front left wheel arch liner was flapping around , the wind seems to be causeing it to tap against the body work . Apon further inspecton i noticed that the tyre has actually burned right through the black plastic liner , leaving a big hole !
I have jammed it in a bit and sound has gone but i am a litlle concerned with the rather large hole in the arch , should i be worryed bout this or wont it cause any harm?

The wheel arch liners on the Exige are held on by those crappy plastic fixings that Lotus love, my front left liner also came lose and has warped slightly. Get the equivalent metal screws (I'm sure B&Q have them, someone on here may know what to get) and replace all the plastic ones. If your car needs serviced then get Ali (SLS) to fit them, he replaced mine when it was in.

This happened to me a couple of months ago - it was right through on about 40% of it. I replaced both bits (comes in front and rear sections) I think the cost was about £70 all in which is rather steep I know
In the winter I guess you will get loads of water spraying up if you leave it alone and since the fusebox was above my holy arch liner (near side) I wanted to replace it to save any electrical bother later.
BTW getting the old fixings off are a RIGHT PITA and thats an understatment. I had to use a grinder to finally cut the seized metal fixings at the top of the arch. However I replaced them with sensible fixings.
