Couldn't agree more. I remember parking the Elise up and two young nedlets came up and started saying "awright big man, can ye take us hame in that?". I had a wee chat to them, let them have a look inside it, answered their questions about it and let them take pics of it on their cameraphone. I think it's always better to be nice to them. If I'd told them to f*** off, they'd probably have come back when I was out of sight and keyed it! Instead, they realised I was into cars just as much as them and they respected me and the car instead.

I think a wee smile to the person looking at your car, or just chatting to them when they come up to look at it makes all the difference. Plus, waving back at the kids who are staring at you as you drive along can totally make their day.

when i had my skyline - it attracted a lot of attention - especially neds always shouting out in a neddy voice - is that your skyline mate.... bla bla... it was also scratched many times even though i was very careful where i parked it.... i lost sleep because of that.... anyway i can also say that the elise attracts much more attention from a wide varity of people... However, like jj, i have stopped worrying about where i park it etc (obviously i m not telling you to park it in cambslang or something) but its just not worth stressing about.... easier said then done but that or move out of Glasgow! (i m sure you will get the same elsewhere)!

Enjoy it and see it as wear and tear!

I think a wee smile to the woman looking at your car, or just chatting her up when she comes up to look at it makes all the difference. Plus, chatting up random women in the street can totally make their day.

amen. I should point out that I drive a shed, so people tend to be too worried to go near it else they get dirty..

The Snot gets much attention - prob down to the noise & the colour (and the fact I'm in Dundee  ) but generally it's always positive - never had any hatred pointed in my direction, well apart from a bunch of schoolkids singing chitty bang bang to me once - gawd I was wishing the lights would go green

I signed up to the local Cruise sites (dont laff... I used to like modifying/lowering and tarting cheap cars!!)

So now, as well as getting looks and smiles in the exige from the Dundee unwashed, I also get :thumbsup from the barrowboy Novas!!

(ok... you can laff now Ross) ;)

I've had interesting things deposited in the radiator outlets on the bonnet:

1. A half eaten fish supper
2. A large pair of floppy mammaries (one duct each)

Number 2 was attached to a slapper who jumped out in front of me on Sausageroll st on a Sat evening (okay, kicking out time at the pub) She whipped them out, neeled in front of the car, laid out on the front clam and asked me to take her home.

I declined the offer :puke
