Know a few people who have Z3's - love them... And are as enthusiastic about them as we are about the Loti's and VX's!

Yet to hear a bad word - but in the end not my taste so i'd never buy one!

Sure some other people will have their views...

If K series HGF is all that is worrying you about an MGF (ok TF!), then of course you will find spades of experience and knowledge in here to help you through if one should occur.

And when it does, you can put a slightly better head back on instead, and then maybe even you will enjoy the car!

I agree with remarks re: suspension. A big step forward for the TF was supposedly the ditching of the hydragas and the move to more conventional, proven units.

what does an early SLK cost then?!

smart roadster? Nice to drive but probably worse build quality than the MGF. Bro had one and it was woeful. Amusingly badly designed/ put together.

Plus its £3k over budget

Your too quick  There's a guy who works in Habitat in Galsgow always chats to me about the elise, he raves about his Brabus Roadster.

And I missed the budget.

Graeme Fraser had 2 Smart Roadsters, latterly a Brabus. Hoot of a car I believe, and surely no more rattley than Monday morning S1 ;-)

Nothing wrong with the K, best part of the MG and the later ones are unlikely to have HGF.

Are the third generation MR2's really "not all that bad" in storage terms? Those cubby holes behind the seats looked like you might fit a notepad in each if you were lucky Laughing and a pizza in beside the spare?? They look quite pricey.
We regularly had 3 squishy sports bag full behind the cubbys and 2 stuffed rucksacks in the frunk for long weekend trips etc and used to get 8-10 tesco bags in it every week - tbh i never saw what the fuss was about, you just have to be a bit more creative with your packing :)

They can be had on an X plate these days for 5K which is a bargain imho - spend some time on http://www.mr2roc.org which is a fantastic owners club, if you want more info and to see some cars for sale :)

I looked at a few of those with my g/f before she decided to restrict her budget. We were looking at cars between £6-7.5k

Trouble for her was that all the early ones are Autos. Manual 'boxes seem to then have been introduced as an option, and therefore are pretty hard to find. Other than that, the folding roof is cool, and I actually quite like them (if they are black cos it's a proper girl-machine otherwise!)

By all accounts you don't want a merc manual anyway.

The only problem with the SLK is its claustophobic inside with the roof up. Dunno why but it was. She was looking at one a while back. Nice cars but not sporty
