You left it with the handbrake on after cooking the brakes on track?

EliseR parked his beautiful car at the east end of the KH car park.

Allegedly the handbrake was not applied.......and it motored forth southwards towards the fence above the pit lane...........between a row of parked KH Rally spec Sierras........and one was obviously away for maintenance......creating a space.........which EliseR filled .....before coming to rest against the catchment fence

I wish I had it on video............you could not stage manage a stunt like that

Okay,

Park the car.

20 min later, some random guy asks, Do you own an Orange Elise?

Yes.

Your car just rolled away and crashed.

F*ck off, your joking?

No, seriously.

I get to the car, it has rolled about 20 metres, right through ONE space left out of 15, manages to miss both cars on the left and right, and the cars rests UNDER the chain link fence about 1ft from the drop onto the track

Front lamps scraped, a few minor scratches which Polished Bliss will sort, and windscreen scratched.

No other damage, at all.

Still in shock.

Gary.

No, it suddenly moved 20 min after I parked it upon arriving!

oops! the discs expand with heat - if you put the handbrake on and they cool down, then the pads kind of dont grip anymore!

i learned this the hard way too - straight out the pits in a monster cosworth and braked into duffus.... pedal straight to the floor and almost put the car in the gravel!

best way to keep the car stationary is to go into the pits after your cool down lap, let it idle for a minute then turn off the ignition and stick it in 2nd gear...

How was the rest of the track day gary? I fancied coming along tonight but had the weegie beers thing on too...

Nope, as he said, Gary parked up on arrival, so unless he was giving it an unreasonable spanking on way up to KH, I doubt if brakes would be that hot when parked. I wonder about the fact that the pads had just been changed, but can't think how that may have affected the handbrake.
Anyway, the damage appeared superficial. Strange thing was, I don't think anyone took a photo, we were all too gobsmacked that it had rolled neatly into the 7 ft space between the KH Sierras.
