Got a problem....
Still got the horrible tin cased wheelnuts on my s1. Finally one of them has sheared and left the chocolate nut underneath.
It's got stuck - have tried the usual of hammering a socket a size smaller over and trying that, but to no avail - looks completely rounded now. Have no idea how it got so tight either - have been using a torque wrench on my wheels for ages.
Anybody got any bright ideas?

Not going to replace sh*t with sh*t. Will put some proper nuts on there ASAP, but I need to get this frickin one off first

Drill the stud out.
Had to do that with my MGF once.

Looking at the S1 manual, the studs are driven in to the hub on splines (Section CG page 11, won't let me rip the pic) so drill the center out of the nut and twist the fecker off. But then you'll have to get the whole hub to bits to fix it.
Don't know if you've done this before but start with a small drill and try and get it centered on the stud, then gradually work up in size until it comes off. New drills will make life alot easier. go slowly and carefully.
I would be inclined to get a trusted garage to do it, potentially a long frustrating job, especially if a drill snaps.

Yeah, thought drilling would be the only way.
Methinks it'll be job for my local trusty friendly garage. Drilled out bolts before, but can't honestly be arsed doing it myself...

you can buy a tool, that fits over the wheel nut and has a thread on the inside , the wrong way, so when you untighten the bolt, it tightens onto the nut, and will untighten it.
sure you can get them form ebay or a motorfactors probably

Either what neil suggests or you get a socket called a gator grip i think which is filled with needles and forms to the shape of the mangled nut to allow you to grip it.
Only problem id fitting it into the hole in the wheel

Problem with using a gator grip is that the nut is almost totally round. Nothing to purchase on. So I think what Neil suggests (which I've found a couple of versions of) is the only way.

You get these internal thread sockets in various sizes in halfords. About £6 that last time i looked.
