When the company went bust there were several hundred of them all impounded in the docks at Liverpool they were supposed to be on their way to the USA quite an impressive sight 8)

I remember watching a programme about it a while ago - from memory, the DeLorean guy pulled an absolute stunt by getting a fortune in Government grants before doing the boost. BTTF made me want one though.

I saw one in a car museum when I was a kid, I'd never seen an unpainted car before, looked stunning. What never quite comes out in pictures tho is that the front and rear lights surround is painted silver.

Built on a modded Esprit chassis with a wheezy Renault V6. The gullwings made it overwieght too.

Shame as I still think they look lovely

I remember one being up for auction at Doune about 10 years ago. Can't remember the price but I seem to recall it was either £4k or £6k. Too expensive for me at the time, but did quite fancy it.

I do believe that they are quite crap though, I am sure I have seen Eddie Irvine talking about them, probably in the same doc JJ is talking about. Shocking 0-60 time of 10.5 secs - crap for such a cool looking car.

That was the Glasgow branch of Classic Car Club... I think it's now being run / sold off by Scottish motor services (of woodlands rd).

The Delorian does look good IMHO... shame it does not drive as it looks :(

Lotus were quite heavily involved in its design from what I gather, but I didn't realise it was actually an Esprit chassis. Didn't Lotus design the body too?

Lotus designed the car from what I remember and if my memory serves me right (waiting for a correction) Chapman only avoided going to court over the whole thing by dropping dead.
