No it doesn't, but can you say you've never had a 'thank **** I got away with that' moment? Think he's learned a valuable lesson, don't you?
Thanks!
I don't know whether he has, I was merely pointing out it doesn't happen to everyone. In fact, it probably doesn't happen to most people, maybe we should start a poll ;)

Gary.

as you said, we all predicted it would happen, and it did. One if the things that worries me about you is this comment. Its like your not taking blame for what happened. i.e it was the weather and cars fault. thats bollocks. its almost always the drivers fault, either wrong inputs or misjudgement.

Despite what holier than thou simon says, we will all make misjudgements on the road at some point. Hopefully this teaches you a quick lesson that your not invincible.

I am well aware I was in the wrong, and I agree it is bollocks that the car is to blame. I was not able to control the car, I hold my hand up.

However, you can't tell me its the most suitable car in the wet? I understand any car will struggle if mishandled, just the Elise gave me a hell of a fright this morning and I was not even nearly expecting it - I did not feel I was driving at any great speed, or doing anything dodgy. Clearly I was wrong and completely misjudged the whole scenario, which is why I am maybe a little frightened of this car in the wet (going forward).

Of course it's suitable in the wet -if you drive it suitably.

I think Shug was meaning we have all made mistakes......I certainly have!

I know we are trying to help and I know it was predicted but I think Gary has had enough "doings" this week on the forum.

Time will tell if he has learned or not.

I'm a big boy ;)

I was expecting far worse trust me....I will take it on the chin, I was a dick and will suffer the consequences.

I just hope I can be less dickish after my fright this morning.

its not THE most suitable car in the wet, but its perfectly acceptable. We have all warned you from the very start about this, and about getting driver training. its just taken a shock for you to learn your lesson.

I would say it took me about a year to become comfortable driving my car in the wet, all the while i was scared of it. Because i was scared of it i didnt take it for granted and didnt make any mistakes. I did a walshy day, gained confidence, and was a bit better after that. Saying that, my one accident that i've had was on track AFTER my training day, which spurned me onto do more, as 1 day gave me the confidence to push hard, but 5 days gave me the skills to go with it

It was always my plan to get the advanced training, just not as an urgency. It has suddenly become priority numero uno. Myself and Claire discussed going down several times and we were going to do before xmas, but wanted to get the wedding and other stuff out the way.

I have my date, and will no doubt be sh*tting myself in the wet for the considerable future if not forever more in this car.

I agree with Neil  There is nothing wrong with the cars in the wet, in fact i've been driving a VX every day for 2.5 years as my only car and have so far covered 33k in rain, sun, hail, snow, ice....you name it.

....and there are plenty of people on here who'd tell you that I am a stunningly sh*t driver
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

You should check it's OK to share the car - a lot of the time both drivers are working at the same, maybe doing different things, so it isn't practical to share a car between two drivers ... best check with them and see what's what.

BTW, like I told you this morning, you span the car anti-clockwise, almost certainly a result of lift off oversteer combined with clipping the puddle with the front left :-)

Cheers,
Robin

I have booked the car they use so we have two cars for the day. He said I should order tires too, I have about 4K left on them just now according to Ali (who did a mini service last night, top guy!).

on the subject of the walshy day, when ed and i went to see him for the first time, we did two days. Agreed it's quite a lot of cash, but i feel it really helped concrete what we'd learnt on day one. and also, as it's so far, it seemed sensible to do two days while we were there..

either way, have fun :D it's the best money you'll ever spend on the car... :D :D

ps you can kill the tyres there, but give event tyres a call and book them to come to the airfield, then you're sorted for the trip home.
