Lotus Dealers and Specialists in Scotland

Post by Snapper » Thu Jul 19, 2007 12:51 am

I will be up in Scotland touring again in August and was wondering where are the Lotus dealers and specialist should I have a problem with the Exige.

From Glasgow I will be doing the west coast, part of the north coast, over to the east coast near Inverness, through the Grampians t Edinburgh.

I know of the Murray Motor Company in Edinburgh, but who else is there?

Just concerned should I have a problem especially on AO48 Tyres which are renowned for picking up punctures due to the soft compound. I am sure there are a few others up that way who know about that problem.

Ali just posted that today, but give him a buzz anyway.
There are a few places that get recommended, hopefully some suggestions will get posted shortly. Sorry, don't have any experience of the garages outside Edin.
Enjoy your drive :drive

You'll be needing the number of Ronnie at Wheels Around then. I don't have a note of it to hand, but hopefully someone can post it up or PM it for you. Mobile tyre fitting, so he may even be able to come to you if you have a problem. Otherwise, I think he's up in Perthshire somewhere.

Ronnie at Wheelsaround number 07711577148

Is it a bad sign that you have your tyre supplier on speed dial on your mobile?

I am sure that I am not the only one that has found how easy it is to pick up punctures with AO48's. I have gone through 4 tyres in one year, 3 of them before 500 miles.

When I went to the Isle of Man I had one in a rear tyre and given the time of weel it happened it would have taken 4x days to get a spare

A tyre specialist did a repair even though He said he shouldn't given where the puncture was and that AO48s should not be repaired due to there soft compound.

I took it very easy and managed to limp the car back to the ferry so that i could get a replacement on the main land. It ruined a good holiday.

I guess that if I get a puncture in the highlands it could be a case of getting the car collected and taken to Edinburgh for a tyre. Tyres to fit S2 Exige are only sold through Lotus dealers and some specialists from my understanding.

I've never heard of anyone picking up a puntcure on AO48's in Scotland.

I don't run them myself so maybe I've just not heard, but it's not something that's common, up here.

Possibly the best thing would be if you have access to this site when you are up, that way if you have a problem there is sure to be somebody either near or that could recommend somwhere near to get you sorted, or at least you'll get DIY advice.

I can PM you my mobile number if you want.

4 tyres in one year! Ouch!

Ive been lucky enough not to have any punctures at all (touch wood) with 48s. Ive covered well over 30k miles with them. Fingers crossed for you! :thumbsup

Ronnie at Wheels around is based from Auchterarder - convenient if you are heading from Glasgow up North via Perth.

Wow,

I have covered 5.5K miles, and all my tires appear in pristine condition. I do drive like an 80 year old blind person mind you.

4x Punctures
2x Front Tyres
6x Rears (last about 4000 miles for a set of rears)

Car is mostly used for touring. I did get through a set of rears in 2 weeks when I did 8x days heading through Europe to Alps to drive the mountain passes in Switzerland, Italy and Austria + 4x days touring the Scottish Highlands

How much do new tires cost and do you have shares in the manufacturer? 8)
