IT help; removing My Club Vaio

Post by Gareth » Fri Jul 06, 2007 7:51 am

Bought a new Sony Vaio laptop a while ago. Everytime I start up the laptop software called My Club Vaio kicks in but never actually does anything. A pop up box says 'You must connect to the internet'. If I right click on the My Club Vaio tab and click close, sometimes it closes and other times it crashes.

I've tried removing My Club Vaio but having no luck. If I went to RUN > MSCONFIG I could then see it as one of my start up programes. I cancelled it and it didnt run for a few days. Now it's back and the ablve step does not work. I can't even see it as a sheduled task.

Apart from my laptop being slow as fook, does anyone know how to remove this My Club Vaio?

Have a look in Task Scheduler and delete anything with MCV
No, No! not Bloke. It's pronounced Black, as in Plaque

Not a problem I've had with either of my Vaio's.

Have you registered the lap-top with Sony via Club Vaio?

Maybe you 'need' to, and then you can de-select it. :?

Failing that get in touch with Sony/Club Vaio via their forums.
Green Subaru Impreza Turbo, a 'classic'.

Silver Jeep Cherokee 2.5 TD, on SORN spec...

Black Disco 3, black van man spec...

Don't you just hate it when rubbish like this gets installed on your computer on your behalf - then they have the cheek to call it "added value".

Nuke from orbit with a Linux install CD and move on ;-)

Failing that, locate a piece of s/w called hijckthis, do a scan and either delete the obvious rubbish or post the log here and I can try and point out what rubbish to delete.

Cheers,
Robin

P.S. I assume you've gone to control panel->add/remove programs ->sony rubbish -> uninstall.
I is in your loomz nibblin ur wirez

If you're running Vista it looks like they've got some compatibility issues.

There is a patch though:

Yeah running vista. Not a fan...seems unfinished.
IMO they've tried to make it look like a Mac.
Trying to remove or deselect any obvious crap.
