I have a garage in the mews lane near my house. It's one half of two garages built on the back of someone's garden (nothing to do with me). For a while the garage has been showing signs of disappearing into the garden (which is at a lower level than the garage) and today I notice that the wall next to the garage has collapsed into that garden.
Any friendly surveyor types out there fancy a 10 minute look at it to let me know whether I should be using the garage at present?
If it's to be condemned I need to find out who owns the one next door and arrange for demolition, proper ground works and rebuild ... hopefully into a shining palace of motorsport
Cheers,
Robin

On closer inspection of the collapsed wall I discovered some VW bumper and light fittings in the rubble

So having decided the cause was someone doing a bad 3-point turn in the lane, I am no longer that bothered - would still like someone to take a look and let me know whether it's dangerous, but at least it's not the ground disappearing underneath the garage/wall at present
Cheers,
Robin

Could you use that shed of an S1 you are meant to be working on on Sunday to prop it up? Might be the most action it sees given the driver

If you want to know who owns the other half I can probably take care of that for you.
But structural engineering is not really my this.

That would be handy!
Thanks for the PMs also.
I'll be in touch when I've cleared the decks at work.

I won't be going home today - straight out from work for dinner - now that I know it's not about to collapse, there's no rush to do it tonight - how about any day or evening next week after you've moved house - I can organise to be home pretty much any time that suits you, so just take your pick!
Cheers,
Robin

Robin,
I can give you some advice on it if you still need it (Structural Engineer

) although I stress advice rather than an official survey.
Let me know.

Cheers chaps, now that I know the wall fell over because someone drove their car into it, I am a lot less worried about the garage which has had huge cracks in all the walls for ages - will get mrbennybennet to check it out on Wednesday and take it from there. Here's hoping it doesn't collapse on the DDtB mobile later ...
Cheers,
Robin
