Call for Ban on Fast Cars!
Call for Ban on Fast Cars!
From the City newswires:-
MEPs are to discuss banning sports cars that can exceed the 130kph top speed on EU roads
from Europe, The Financial Times reported today. Chris Davies, a British Liberal Democrat who
drafted the report on how to reduce vehicle greenhouse gas emissions, said: “It is political and
environmental lunacy. People cannot drive at these speeds legally. It is just boys' toys.â€

No it would mean a speed restrictor on new cars, there is n way they could do it retrospectively, the Porka is more than capabe of a ton plus tuts but has no electrics to speak of at the moment.
It would probably be an easily removable (If you have the right electric tool) thing....

The Japanese are already restricted to around 110 so it wouldnt surprise me one bit if this came to fruition. I remember when they introduced speed limiters on lorrys, uk speed limit was and still is 60 on a Mway but all lorries were reduced to 56 in correspndance with EU regs. Just infuriates me. If you have two lorries with limiters within 0.1 mph of each other it takes days to overtake, causes frustration to others but is it veiwed as a danger, no. Pick on the minority and theyll be ok, just make sure they dont take too much to start, hence the "sports cars".
The UK becoming so molly coddled its a joke. If you put a frog into boiling water it will jump straight out. Put it in cold water and slowly turn up the heat the frog will die.

It would be a waste of time manufacturers would have non of it and lets face it BMW and MErcedes have been restricting their cars for years and they can be bypassed. there are alot of clever people in this world who will very quickly find away around it, and anyway some german roads dont have a speed limit.
To be honest it just sounds like a load of old w**k to get his name in the paper.

If they did introduce it, it'd only be to new cars from the date of introduction.

Anyways - in UK, how long can you hold a road vee-hickle at any "insane" speeds? a few minutes tops?
