That's two years into the safety zone, so would have probably been legal anyway.

Coming back from a track day at Brands 1998 M25 114mph fined £750 band 7 days

It was about 1984-85 me and a friend and two lady friends decided to go for a run to south queens ferry in my esprit turbo, we were just pulling up to the hawse inn when a cop car came round the corner and gave us one off those looks, he quickly did a u turn and stopped and said , I thought that’s what I saw. Legs and bums! I told him I hadn’t come far. He liked the car and then left. I guess that when police had a sense of humour. Pity that’s removed when they join up these days.

Oh and I was banned for a year and fined £550 in 2000 for driving a Lotus Esprit Turbo 4 cyl at an average of 107.5 mph over 5 miles on the M74... Drink drivers were getting same ban but less fines than me that day in court in Dumfries the driver who gave me a lift home from court in his Esprit was on a driving ban....

Where about in Aberdeen did your "friend" stop his watch?

Did you lend him your 211, or one of your previous cars for this insanely fast time?

That is pretty fookin quick

I had a friend who decided to see how fast his 300zx twin turbo (c.450hp) would go on the M74. Apparently it nearly touched 180 tuts

then a couple of years later, the same friend, tried the same thing on his zx636r and only managed 174 (indicated) that left him desperate for a bigger bike!

the same guy that whilst going to Crail, along the A92 got clocked slightly over 150 tuts by a forward facing scamera van..... the operator managed to take a note of the numberplate and some Police arrived at the door every couple of days for 6 months looking for him. He was never in :thumbsup

my friend on his zx636R managed an indicated 182mph, but that was part of a slipstreaming fun race so probably helped reduce drag. 174mph was a regular sight for him sans slipstream :)
