Shugmobile III being put back on the road! (with pics!)
HTF do you get the sticky bits outta that then?Shug wrote:Very little tin-worm. Was totally rebuilt in 2004 (most of the metal is fresh) Little surface rust here and there, but I'll tidy that. Woodwork is just surface too - needs a wee bleach and re-varnish.rossybee wrote:Nice one Shug![]()
Looks relatively rot-free (the metalwork onyhoo) - do you have a period mattress in t'back?
As for the matress, no. But a fetching green shagpile.... oh yes
let it dry & go hard then wire brush & dettol?

Actually, it was a flying colours 'real' pass! Got asked if I just wanted an MOT, or if I actually wanted to know what was wrong with it and I asked for the latter
Only things were a bit of rust in the floorpan where a panel had been welded in and the guy didn't tidy up the remaining pan correctly and a balljoint gaiter that is on it's way out.
Engine ran a steady 2% CO, brakes were balanced perfectly and bloody good for drums actually (I'd bedded them in on the drive over)
Well chuffed, it goes far better than a 43 year old car has any right to - even Elaine said she was impressed at how solid it was when I took her out for a drive later on.
Some sample costs to illustrate why I'm using it as an everyday car, by the way...
4 x Balljoints - £18
1 x Damper - £8
4 x Tyres + puncture repair for the spare - £93
