i thought the 111s had an alloy intake manifold whereas the standard S2 has the big shiny black palstic four pipes thing you see in the pics

Yeah, it was established a while back that it was a standard car. Doesn't matter all that much as he paid a fair price for it and it has the best S2 wheels

Maybe worth re-checking this out... Now, I know the S1 standard cars were all distributor based - is this the case for S2's? Or do they have coil pack ignition on the 120hp cars?
Not an S2 owner, so I've not kept as up to speed as I should....

I don't want to cause alarm but that looks like the standard 1.8 to me. The 111s has a different shaped plenum chamber ( a big beefier and usually has VVC written across it ).
Best bet is to phone Lotus with the chassis number which you can find on the inside sill (drivers side) printed on a laminated label and they'll tell you the exact model.
Did you just buy this car recently from pistonheads? -

Busted !!
I a... hem...... kind off...

had a go of a Turb!it was ok!!!!!!
ABS and an airbag are a big plus!

Had a nasty experience on the A9 with an X5.
4.7 0-60!!

(had nothing to do with it!!!)
Considered selling it if i got my money back.
Absolutely no interest what so ever so have decide to get a Walshy day instead!
