I know what you mean. I fought against it for years, in fact I bought the Bra four years ago in anticipation of the rebuild, but kept putting it off.
However structurally it was suffering, and the rear subframe had to be changed regardless, so had to bite the bullet
Although it is nice to have her looking like an Elise again, I now have an Azure blue car like thousands of others, whereas as you say, there was only one N1 TUT, and although there was very often a group around, she was never likely to get chavved, and I never had to bother about stone chipping or the odd bit of armco.
However I do not know what the near future holds, but the intention is to keep both cars and drive them for as long as I am able to, then pass them over to the boys when they get older.
At some stage after the kids are gone we will probably sell tut towers, a bit big for two of us, and I then maybe will buy a Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spyder as a second car...........
