Why not sell the ST, get the money you want, stick about 2 grand away to save for an elise, and buy an older cbr600f or so,

might let you have a shot on my sv, has fairings and isn't too likely to kill you, and is brilliant fun in the twisties, and i bought mine 2 and a bit years ago for £2.6k with 4000miles on the clock.

I'd try out more faired bikes before biting the bullet for the daytona, cause its what 7k new? when get an older (still fast and fun) 600 with fairings, and you won't feel it lacking from the 675 as your not going to be pushing it to its limits.

yeah but CBRs aren't cool and neither are SVs. Daytonas are cool, I don't care whether or not it's actually the right bike for me and I'm not going to listen to experienced bikers when they offer me advice etc. etc. etc.

I'll second that. No point in going for something you'll quickly get bored with. :thumbsup

Was sitting at a set of lights earlier this year in Glasgow on my Ducati coming back from the Carbeth Inn.

Bike's got full open race pipes/dry clutch and the noise is HUGE even at tickover.

Traffic cops pull up behind..I'm waiting for them to tug me..

..looking in the mirror.. they're laughing and let me go!

Only on a Ducati..

Sorry for the post hijack.

Take care,

Frank

I've got a K4 600 gixxer with low miles and MOT 'til Jan and full Suzuki service history sitting in the barn which I could be parted with for the right offer. Also got a Yoshimura race can, double bubble screen, crash bungs, rear hugger plus some gear that I probably won't need if I sell. This is the bike I bought after I went through the Direct Access back in 2004, passed the test on the Friday morning and bought the gixxer on the Friday afternoon  Found that the supersport 600's had the performance i needed i.e. you can ride them fast or slow and it was a toss up between the CBR 600RR and the gixxer. Gixxer won as the seating position on the CBR felt as though I was perched rather than sitting on the bike.

Hasn't been ridden much since the whiplash as the riding position still aggravates the prolapsed discs so looking to get something with a more forgiving riding position and more adapted for long distance/touring (currently looking at KTM and R1200GS but not decided yet).

TBH I haven't really done any homework on this as I guess a trade on the next bike was always in the offing. In terms of right offer I'd be looking for around market/book price for the year/condition/extras. Haven't yet enquired as to trade value on the next bike which would also provide a guide and would be prepared to negotiate around that. If you are serious then PM me and I can provide you the full spec and photos.

As stated earlier I haven't decided on the next bike but could always accelerate plans if required.

The conversation probably went like -
COP 1 - "we should give him a ticket for the noise from the bike"
COP 2 - "fcuk trying to speak to him, he'll be deaf by now!"

Was having a look myself and you'd probably be asking about 5k, which would be out of my range:(

Coming back from France with the 999, same deal slipper clutch and term's. At the ferry port when we disembarked customs pulled me over. Not to check if I had anything I wasn't supposed to but to talk about the bike. Mate on a R1 never even got a look, 1/2 hour later they let me leave ............ go figure

Still think it's a thing of beauty, think you either love 'em or hate 'em. Hell of a thing on the road though, quantum leap over a 916.

hairy muff but id personally rather be on the r1 than talk about the bike. plus r1 isnt exactly slow so it's not like you're gonna b bored.
