One for the S2 Exige owners

Post by scottyf » Wed Jun 06, 2007 5:40 pm

Just wondering if anyone else suffers from a drivers seat which moves ever so slightly on the rails, even though its located properly, its starting to really pee me off. :scratch

Ok, not a very tech question I know but just curious.

I have never had that problem in my two years of ownership. Is something stopping it locking into position :?:

No, its def locked in position. The seat just tends to rattle ever so slightly, as if the locating holes are too big. Ive checked to make sure the rails are screwed down tight to the chassis. Meant to say theyre the 06 ProBax seats, dont know if there was a change to the rail design???

Not suffered this personally, but I was browsing thru the long-term reports on the Exige in evo recently, and I think they had a similar problem, I think a bolt had worked it's way loose if I recall correctly.

What about bending the runners a bit tighter or slapping grease all over them ? :?

On the early S2's you need to "torque" the seat into the runners - let go of bar push hard back with one foot till it clicks and then the other - you will hear it click into place.

I've had this checked a couple of times by MMC and Luke at JPS checked it for me too. I'm afraid TADTS. Everything is tight and I don't know why, but it still has movement. Not too bad most of the time, but rocks a bit under heavy braking.

I had a Lotus Engineer come up to see the car (the red beast)- I had water ingression and they needed an engineer to approve the work as it was a clam off job.

Turns out they do all do that to a degree - and you can bend them back again but they will just deform again. :(

I had one of my bolts fail on the passenger seat to so was not very happy about this but Lotus certainly wont be much help if it really annoys you could always get some lighter fixed items and replace the seat bracket. I have heard peeps use Demon Thieves Pug 205 seat rails too - cheap and light.
