Airfields?

Post by skellyjohn » Tue Feb 20, 2007 2:17 pm

Apart from Crail and East Fortune, are there any other Scottish Airfields that have any kind of motorsport gubbins?

There seems to be plenty of airfields and one or two looked pretty good.

Perth? Glenrothes?

Just thought it might make a good day out in the summer and maybe cheaper than KH.

I know Perth does not have anything . Its very active with flying which takes priority . My Dad looks after the hangar and I know the general manager so if anybody has ideas I can always ask . As long as we didnt damage any of the signs ,light and all of the aircraft were out of the way who knows. They are always happy to get new income sources .

What was the format at Glenrothes as that is quite small?

There is also the runway at Errol is mostly used at weekends ( For the parachute club) and they have car boot sales. Last time I was there the tarmac was in poor condition but that was 2003.

MacK: I've been to the airfield at Kirknewton and it's full of holes. Apparently some of the gliders land on the grass as its smoother! Pity cos it's a great size.

Tenkfeet: No harm in asking! Great central location for reverybody.

Shoomer: I've added my name to the list as a 'maybe'. Somewhere in Scotland would have been better.

Paul

If tut was driving it, it would be way to fast to land an F15 on it, never mind a Microlight<BG>

Gap Tallard with Marcus ? If it is I did two weeks there in Feb 2005 , its a great place would be even better in summer .

Back to airfields . I spoke to my Dad who has given me a contact to speak to for Perth. The guy I thought was in charge is not . He vaguely remembers the same question being asked by a car club last year but he cannot remember the outcome .

Thats about 2 miles from my house and this is the first of me hearing about it....

...looks like its up to me to do some more digging. :drive

Anyone know who set it up last time? I think Star performance did a drag strip type thing a few years ago. Not what we want for S.E....
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....
