To All Moderators

Post by Novice Racer » Wed Nov 29, 2006 12:41 pm

Dear Moderators

I really do object to the link posted previously showing graphically the effects on some poor young girl after a high speed car accident. That this has been posted purely to satisfy the morbid curiousity of some is grossly distasteful.

Far less offensive postings have been moderated in the past and I do feel this should have been the case here. This forum is supposed to be for Lotus enthusiasts and for those who wish to view images of that sort, there are plenty of other sites.

I am certain that the girl's family and friends would not wish this sort of material to be made available for public viewing. We should respect these wishes and the young girl's memory by being no part of it.

Agreed.

It had no place on S_E.

In fairness, it's a fairly descriptive thread title and, in fact, I haven't opened it, as I had a fair idea what would be contained within.

I assume it was a link to pics also?

Nevertheless, I see threads like this here, on PH etc and I can't understand the mentality that wants to share stuff like this with the world

In fairness these things work both ways.

The pics look like they were taken by an 'official' source, and have then been put on the 'net along with pictures of the girl before the accident. Maybe the family are okay with this, as it may shock people into thinking about the potential consequences of their actions.

Can see both sides.......personally, didn't open it & don't think it needs to be on here....

If folk want to see gore there are numerous other dedicated websites out there.

I posted the topic due the sheer shock factor I experienced from seeing it on another site.

I fully understand if it has no place here that is why I suggested it be removed if neccesary.

This is what the PM system is there for. Not sure on the point of a thread highlighting another thread...

We want to be pretty hands-off in moderation, but if something offends you - PM Ed, Simon, robin, Simon I or me. It'll then be removed unless the request is totally unreasonable (which this would not have been)

I think the thread is clearly titled and if you dont want to look dont .

I feel terrible for the girl more so her family as this is a really terrible accident . I would hope they would never see the pictures as the memory of their daughter would be destroyed .

However if more people were made aware of the real damage that occurs during an accident the roads would be a safer place. In life in general we are cocooned from the real consequences of human behaviour should it be accidents , war of effects of drugs .

I made the decision to look at them , lesson learned .

Just waiting for Lindsay Lohan's pictures - I think unlike Paul, it may not scar me for life! I am willing to take the risk - frankly as for good old Britney getting her beaver out for the cameras, it's a pretty poor showing to be honest!
