I have p&l on my 2002 Audi A4 and the renewal almost doubled when the car was over 10 years old, something likely to affect you S1 owners

Which reminds me I need to renegotiate my 2013 cover as I think I have Roadside,, relay, P&L, home contents and possible Euro cover.

I have all four cars on P&L, the Audi TT is in at present for a claim. Total cost was £320 for a family of four with every service that the AA provide included.

As I still have 60,000 points left on my AA Visa having used some for last years cover, house insurance, and car insurance, that would cover it for the next four years at £100/5,000 points.

What are people paying for their AA these days, renewal just in for two of us for Relay and Home start £152? Online is £129. I get Greenflag via my bank account which is known to be poor as it is tied to a specific car I think so looking to renew and wanted to know what to aim for.

Every December RAC whack up my renewal despite not calling them out for 5 years. £160 this year. Greenflag were doing 2nd driver free, £84 for both of us. One call to RAC and they matched it. Play them off against each other. It is a pain having to do it each year but they keep whacking my premium up .

I took out roadside/relay/home start/breakdown repair cover with the AA a couple of weeks ago for my S1. As I am a new member it's £18.37/month. Seems like good value to me although I suspect it will go up come renewal time.

Make sure you phone them come renewal time Harvey when you receive your quote, which will be double.

Just knock them back down and don't take no for an answer. If they are adamant, walk away, they will call you back in a couple of days.

I had no time to phone at last renewal so got DD'd for best part of £180 roadside & relay, 2 names on policy.

Will go into bat next time.

Was encouraged to stay with AA due to much higher number of patrols esp in the wilds

Did you know if you get your Merc serviced by the Merc dealer you get euro breakdown cover?

This year I'll just be buying a oneoff as I'm only planning one short trip. If you're going for a couple of longer trips it tends to work out better with an annual although not necessarily as part of your UK package. In the past it's worked out cheaper for me to get the Euro cover from one, and UK cover from the other. I've used a company called autoaid. £42.54 per year and covers any car you are driving. Covers you and your spouse. Basically it is an insurance policy, you pay the recovery guy and claim it back from autoaid. My sister had to use them a couple of years ago and she didn't actually have to pay the recovery guy directly. It was all managed by Autoaid. Not sure if that is the norm though.
