TVR

Big news about the new car http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-brit ... ally/32281

Easy to bash it for being a non-starter, but they have respected names such as Cosworth and Gordon Murray on board, and being run by successful businessmen, so certainly has some credibility...

13 page discussion in two days on PH, varying views (to be expected), and certainly looks like the entry point will compete with the Evora

I do wish them all the very best, certainly a tall order!

fingers crossed - proper engines, Gordon Murray - good potential.

TVR is a name that is sorely missed, and the cars have a drama and style that no-one has replicated - certainly at nothing like the price.

Yes it will be good to see them back in production.

Pity the Russian screwed it up but at least as you say there are some big names behind it this time.

And of course I am biased ))))))

Hopefully they can make them TVR looking, especially the interior. I remember drooling over Ross's Griff at KH as a teenager, and was a massive fan of Erica's old bosses T350C which is an absolutely stunning car.

Fingers crossed :-)

Joking aside, I would love to see TVR back. I have always loved the way the cars look, as Chris says, let's hope they keep the TVRness.

I'd really love to see TVR back so this is good news. I do think they are completely bonkers to try and build a bespoke engine though and this alone could doom the project to failure. Why on earth don't they just use a crated in V8 from the States? Power, sound and reliability would all be a given at a reasonable cost. Lotus doesn't build its own engines, neither does Morgan, Arial, Caterham - even Pagani gets them from AMG rather than build them in house. Admirable ambition maybe, but madness all the same.

Very true. It's not as if they have a history or heritage to maintain either as they use to use ford or rover lumps.

Would love to see them up and running again, but it never ceases to amaze me that people always repeat other peoples mistakes.
I remember TVR as a reasonably successful company building lovely sports cars using bought in engines (Ford, Triumph and then Rover) that fell to pieces when they thought they could build their own engine and it (and the engines) failed pretty spectacularly.
Wish them luck (they may need it).

Erm, they're not building their own mills, crated ford 302, then breathed on by cosworth to give some extra ponies and also credibility.

Now taking £5k deposits

Scary that, based on some loose info and Autocar sketches...

...good way to rustle up some investment wonga, not entirely sure how morally sound an idea that is though...
