Thanks guys! Ill give Edinburgh Bike Fitting a call, I suspect a shorter stem might be in order to get right. It doesn't matter what position I'm in from a too much weight on my arms point of view, always going to be an issue as I'm a fat git hahahahaha... maybe if I put plenty more miles on the bike that may help a little hahahahahaha

Might be as simple as fore / aft position of the saddle..... that's why a good bike fit is so important!

I've put the saddle forwardbut when I was initially looking the guy at Edinburgh Bike Co Op said that while sitting in normal riding position I shouldn't see the front hub as the bars should be in the way, if the hub is before the bars reach is too much and if the hub is past the bars then it's too little, I can see the hub before my bars. Bike is a Medium 54cm and I am 5'9" with a 31" inside leg so no funny proportions barr my gut hahahahaha..... So in theory the frame should be the rightsize for me but being the RC it is race geometry which the guy I bought it off said has a longer top tube for a less upright riding position.

The Bike fitting Chap will hopefully sort me out though, I'll give him a call later.

The Tri Centre has been taken over by Planet X. I believe they still do bike fitting though. My wife Helen had a bike fit done by Hooked on Cycling in Bathgate and the guy there was excellent.

Incidentally I think there is a lot of mythology about the ride quality of various frame materials (Ti is 'forgiving', aluminium is 'harsh' etc) - so much depends on geometry and frame construction, which is why cheap carbon frames may be light but sometimes are not very pleasant to ride. The size and pressure of your tyres also makes a huge difference to the ride quality -the difference between a 23mm tyre at 120psi to a 28mm tyre at 80psi is massive in terms of comfort.

Dougie Shaw was working out of Planet X but he has set up on his own as Edinburgh Bike Fitting, a few of my friends have used him and have recommended him.

I think I'm 23c at 125psi, according tp PO I need that cos I'm pretty heavy at 15 stone 4lbs, all muscle of course

I'll be hoping the fitting guy when I eventually get to see him will advise. Please don't get me wrong I still enjoy the bike and it's very quick on the smooth stuff so just need to do some smooth route plans and get on with it

Bought me a road bike earlier in the year & although I've been getting our on it fairly regularly, ever prod of encouragement helps.

I see* in Strava you can create clubs that ranks those within it by speed/distance etc each week. Can set up an SE one if there's any interest?

*Actually spotted this on seloc.

I think I covered more miles on bike's this year than in the wee car. I'm also looking at getting a bike fit for the road bike. Having just finished a wee three day ride from Inverness via Fort William, Killin and onto Gleneagles (Should have been Falkirk) my left knee / calf was playing up and I was in pain and had to stop.
I've got the Hoy 100 booked for the end of August so need to get the miles in. I'm on strava so will join

Yeah, think we're quite widely spread over the country so far.

Was a bit peeved my phone didn't record properly yesterday, had a good ride in the rain from the Botanics in Glasgow out to Eaglesham & back again, should have been 500m of up hill in there anyway.

two weekends ago, raced my home made rigid bamboo fatbike in the scottish enduro series as a veteran. finished 19th out of 40 in the vets, one hardtail and all the rest on full sus enduro bikes. So plastic cars made by some blokes in Norfolk seems somewhat fitting!
